Listen to the soundtrack album's first track: "Main Title / Young Peter".

That's what Horner did for this film but they cut down the title sequence and eliminated the theme. That performance of the title theme in that track was the best in the score and never made it into the film itself.

The leaked complete score has even more variations of it, including the revised in-film edit which eliminated the theme.
