Predict and discuss Doomsday's box office potential and performance!

Per Bloomberg, it's been anticipated that Avengers: Doomsday will stand as 2026's top earner when it comes to trumping the entire year's slate of releases, not just Dune: Part Three. Bloomberg anticipates Avengers: Doomsday to be 2026's highest-grossing movie.

I’m feeling relatively confident about 2B.

- The first big event movie post End Game
- The return of the big 3
- The return of the X-Men
- Deadpool, Wolverine… likely being featured
- Fantastic 4 being thrown into the mix
- The return of other liked Marvel characters
- Suprise cameos sprinkled throughout
- Spider-Man’s bump

For comparison:
Spider-Man: NWH - 1.9B
Doctor Strange: MOM - 950M
Deadpool & Wolverine - 1.3B

All these 3 movies had a bit of multiverse stuff and they all did very good and they weren’t even close to a big team up event film. Now add to that all the main Avengers, plus the X-Men, Deadpool… It has a ton of potential, the character crossovers alone will make people lose their minds.

I am expecting this movie to be a mess and get the worst reviews of the Avengers movies. It will open big, but I think the legs will be worse than anticipated. Probably still makes somewhere around IW money, but I think EG money is way out of reach and Secret Wars could perform worse than this if reviews and overall reception isn't great.

Highest grossing films post-pandemic:
$2,320,631,329 The Way of Water
$1,910,982,770 No Way Home
$1,698,863,816 Inside Out 2
$1,495,696,292 Top Gun: Maverick
$1,482,612,160 Zootopia 2*
$1,447,138,421 Barbie
$1,360,879,735 Super Mario Bros.
$1,338,073,645 Deadpool & Wolverine
$1,059,242,164 Moana 2
$1,038,027,526 Lilo & Stitch
$1,001,978,080 Jurassic World: Dominion

*Fire and Ash is not included because it has still several weeks to go
*Zootopia 2 has still many weeks to collect more millions

I want to say 2 billion should be the goal, but looking at the list and given the scope of this film, at least 1.5 billion should be the goal.

I’ll put a bow on my predictions with this, if Doomsday is ok but nothing to write home about I still think it does 1.5B. Just based on how big such a movie like this gets with all the additions… it will still have plenty on the tank to get that much of a result.

If it’s good, then 1.5B is a given and it will generate repeat viewings and have strong legs which naturally lead it to land between 1.5 to 2B.

If it’s great then it’s topping those 2B.

I fully expect this to be one of the worst if not the worst MCU reviewed movie. Everything around it, the zero built-up, them changing director, writers and villain and starting from scratch, Russos' resume after Endgame, Feige's resume after Endgame, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, all the rumoured cameos, everything reeks fan service desperation in the worst possible way. I'll be shocked if this is not a hot steaming mess. The movie will make a lot of money but this is why I don't think it will do as much as some predicting. I have a feeling it will be the BvS of Marvel Studios.

Also Dune is still expected to open up the same day as this. Two billion is extremely optimistic.

To think that this would be one of the worst reviewed MCU movies seems a bit of a stretch. Almost like wanting it to fail for some reason. And I am fully aware of all the issues surrounding this project but from where im sitting I see the fans and general audience starting to eat this up once more…

This being fan servicy? Oh for sure, 100% is going to be. As was No Way Home, MoM, D&W… guess what all those have in common… A ton of money at the box office.

Is a movie of this caliber doing less than a MoM or D&W(We’re talking up to 1.3B?) I just don’t see it.

Dune will move. If not good luck WB.

I absolutely see it being one of the worst reviewed. The critics are simply not nearly as forgiving of these movies anymore. We can bring up D&W, but that also had a lighter tone and while nostalgic was self contained. This movie has to both create the event for the crossover and pay it off in the same movie all the while where characters won't be given a ton of screentime. I for sure see this being the worst reviewed Avengers movie, and a below 50% would not shock me at all
