Moving on from my other threads about films I seen on tv last night and post about the enxt day,

Serenity/Firefly the movie.
I heard alot of "buzz" and hype about this film when it came out and to be honest, it was absolutely ****.
It was seriously boring. Couple of good scenes, but nothing great.

I dont think I needed to see the t.v show to understand the movie or anything. Nothing left me thinking "wtf?".
Some of it was badly done, first time the Reavers show up it was badass and everyone was seriosuly scared and there was a real sense of danger and urgency to get the hell away.
However, when they where travelling through Reaver territory, it didnt seem like such a big deal, no sense of real danger. And what was with the cannon on top, does the ship not have any guns?

Usually I dismiss people that don't like Firefly/Serenity as people that just don't get it. In this case I...oh...uhm...wait...yeah...you didn't get it.

So what didnt i get then?

God, there's already an official Serenity thread, one which actually says "Now don't make any more". Couldn't you have put this in that one?

no, the ship didnt have any guns. It was a f**king transport class ship, why would it have guns? do airliners have guns? and it was a big deal, but they werent running around like chickens with there heads cut off when traveling through reaver space because the entire point of them disguising themselves as reavers was to not be noticed. you didnt see any reavers running like they were scared then, did you? no, so it would have blown there cover...also, whedon=god, you=idiot, you have no taste, etc. etc. etc.

Serenity is a ****ing awesome movie, you need to watch again bud and heed the advice of Joker.

I saw it having never seen the show, and I loved it.

I have to watch the 1st hour. Stupid HBO. I think I already watched The Island 4 times and yet only caught the last hour of Serenity.

So far from what I've seen it's decent.

Haha its funny when fanboys get pissed when people dont like their movies.

1. How the **** am I supposed to know its a transport ship? Its never explained in the movie and iv never seen the show. So why are you being so *****y about it?

2. I wasnt saying that them travelling through space wasnt dangerous, i was saying that it was a badly done scene, production/direction/music wise.

But you haven't said how it was badly done. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it was poorly done. Creating a thread that says "this movie is ****, i don't like it" and not actually giving reason as to why it is so bad is just as much of a crime as "the fanboys" *****ing you out for not liking it.

Did you even read my post?
I said that particular scene was badly done, it didnt feel like there was any danger. As in it was badly done:whatever:
And again, did you read my post? I gave a reason as to why I didnt like it, it was boring. There, thats my reason, just like in my first post.:whatever:

serenity rocked... as did firefly.......

you're dumb for not liking it.

Firefly ha sto be the best sci-fi film of the decade.

Saw a couple of minutes and didn't see anything particularly interesting. Moved on. I suspect most did which would account for why the show was cancelled and the movie bombed.

Unfortunetly good writing and story always gets passed up.. :(

You say that every single damn time someone doesn't like something you like.

Can you say anything else besides "You don't get it"

*sigh*

JAL, do you find all comedians funny? You understand that different comics have a distinct sense of humor and there are some who think they are funny and some who don't think they are funny? Just because you don't find them funny doesn't detract from you as a person.

I think that's what blukejake is saying. You either get it or you don't. It's not meant as an insult.

No i mean before i nthe borat thread way before the movie even came out i asked who the guy was and i said something and he went You don't get it than.

Same thing applies, I don't know the guy but I'm sure he's not being insulting towards you.

In reference to Borat, let me reiiterate, saying you don't get it means it's probably not your cup of tea and not anything about your intelligence.

You're also been picked on enough on here that you easily confuse sarcasm, criticism and objectiveness with personal insults against you. Honestly, it's not always about you.

Usually I hate when people say "you don't get it" when someone dislikes a movie, but the topic starter seems to actually not get it.

Serenity is probably the best sci-fi movie of the 21st century.

Yeah...it was your mistake. Now apologize, or something...

BTW here is a copy of the conversation you are talking about. I said I wasn't saying you were too dumb to get it...but then I did call you dumb, for not reading what I wrote and hearing only what you wanted to hear.b In all fairness, your behavior was and still is kinda dumb, so at least the insult fit.

JAL- "So whats the deal with this guy? i saw him at the mtv movie awards. what's his sctick suppose to be?"

Me- "It's performance art...if you don't get it yet, you probably never will."

JAL- "whats that suppose to mean? you saying i'm to dumb to understand it?"

Me- "Nope...just saying if you don't get it, you probably won't even if it's explained to you...it's like Monty Python...if a person doesn't get it the first time, they probably never will."

JAL- "oh that's really nice. okay i'm to dumb to understand. well since i'm to dumb ro understand this movie i'm not coming back anymore."

Me- "What you are too dumb to do, apparently, is read what someone types and comprehend it...I said Nope...meaning Nope I wasn't saying you are too dumb to understand it...I was saying it's like most comedy, either it makes sense and is funny to you, or it doesn't...people have different tastes, and different levels of absurdity that appeal to them. A joke isn't funny anymore once it needs to be explained."

I hate all things Buffy & Angel, but when news came of Serenity I was intrigued.

I tried to sit down and watch a few episodes of Firefly on Sci-Fi, but I just couldn't. They bored me.

That being said, when the movie came out I saw it in theaters, and it instantly became one of my favourite Sci-Fi films- right up there with Star Wars. It was hilarious, scary, intelligent, and exciting.

Sure there's a few flaws- the first 10 minutes are a bit dull and the ending seemed a bit convienant- I really thought more of them were dead after the showdown with the Reavers. Also, Mal's operation or grenade fragment should have been mentioned at some point early on(If it was mentioned in the series, I retract this statement).

All in all, a fantastic film. Very cinematic. I will say that I enjoyed it a lot more when I saw it on the big screen, and that the sheer size and sound helps a lot. The scene when they fly through Reaver territory literally had me on the edge of my seat in the theater- a term often used but rarely true. It's one of those few movies that funded my decision to save up for a massive home theater- just to get the experience of watching it again the way it was meant to be seen- on the big screen.
