Sgt. Rock

SERGEANT ROCK AND THE SOLDIERS OF THE FUTURE?

I don't know how I feel about it. I'm not saying it can't work...but I think it's the wrong move to make, albeit an interesting one.

That seems to be what WB does these days...set things in the future.

unless WB and DC are serious about it now, I doubt this will ever happen.

read the article earlier today myself. Since this project has been in various forms of developmental hell for many years. I doubt it will get moving serious any time soon. Though it is curious that joel silver still retains the rights on this project. When DCE said they were taking back all the rights from producers holding onto a project for to long with no real develop. Like how silver is off WW now. But still gets to have the loosers which was in production at the time, and lobo.

well like others said above with this project havent moved much in years its likely not going to go anywhere any time soon.

Like the reports state, G.I. Joe has put this back in the spot light so it may actually get looked at seriously by WB.

So basically they would want to make Sgt. Rock into GI JOE lite even though GI JOE didn't do that well?

well who knows if this script will even get greenlit or what not. they could try this future idea, it doesnt fly with the execs. That guy gets off the script, someone new comes in and does a totally different script and possibly back to WW2 and all that. We dont know if this script is going to make it into production stage.

Exactly. I wont believe any movie until I see a trailer.

Sgt Rock in the future?

Couldnt they just make an Adam Strange movie instead and get the same end product.

yea and wasnt there an article a few months back that adam strange was a project that was being thought of? But yea we all know we cant trust any dc film to we have a cast, and its actually in filming. So right now we just have hex/losers to look forward to for next year. Then when ever gl starts shooting for 2011, then from that point on who really knows what is going to happen.

Thanks for the update. I just don't like the idea of changing the setting away from WWII. It just seems integral to the character to me. Hopefully, it'll go back to development hell for a little while longer until they figure that out.

this was mentioned a few months ago it was going to be in future and not ww2

Yes, I know. I just wanted to officially jump on the hate bandwagon.

ok man, no problem. I do with the project the best of luck if it does make it into production stage. But with the lack of much other dc stuff this could just end up in developmental hell again for who knoes when.

This is DC Comics and they have this before with some of their period titles. Jonah Hex was also set in the future. So this is no surprise to me and it does fit with how DC Comics use their titles.

I know DC does bizarre and out of this world stuff w/ their characters and stories ala multiverse. Some ranging from epic great stuff to forgettable ones. But do you really want to see Sgt. Rock and The Easy Company's 1st offering to the big screen set in the future??? I'm sorry... But imo I don't want it to be stained that way and let others be introduced to them that they are clearly NOT! a WWII piece is the way to go. Its an essential element that defines their characters. They're doing it right w/ Jonah Hex as a Western film as it should be.

It's still a bad idea. This isn't Mortal Kombat guys: People who don't know the original won't go see it because it's a recognizable name, and people who know the original won't see it because it's not the Sgt. Rock they know!

yea who knows what is going to happen with this project at this stage. For all we know if hex turns out to be a good film, and rock hasnt moved into a production stage at that point maybe they will see it would be better to put it in the past. Or this project could just fall to pieces like so many other things.

(crickets chirping.) Not many fans of him I guess?

I didn't even know about Sgt. Rock until I read that they were making a movie about the character. That said, this looks like a stupid SRINO movie. Why even bother using the name and pissing off the character's small following, when that name won't help you sell more tickets anyway?

There is no shortage of CGI-filled, futuristic scifi action movies. There aren't as many action movies set in WW2.
