Shameless

I wouldn't really say these lives are crappy really they're just so real and down to earth. I dunno about most of you but I am part of the lower class, I'm poor as **** and not a thing really bothers me about it. My point is that these people and the way they act and behave are just like (in my experience) regular every day people. Sure not most people show such criminal behavior but a lot still do and there are just **** tons of families out there like this. This is the most realistic portrayal of an all American lower class family I've ever seen

And criminality is a real complicated subject in general anyways. I've honesty never met somebody in real life who has absolutely never committed some sort of crime.

I'm upper middle class to upper class. I snuck some important papers out of a place I interned at before being told that I could. My Dad taught me how to steal cases of bottled water from the place he works at, we were never caught but the manager switched away from bottled water because of us. And my Dad taught me how to work "if you don't like it, next one free on us" Blockbuster scam. Not to mention vandalizing/messing around with some richer hotels one night just for an adrenaline rush and interestingly to rebel against the system (born poor, but adopted into wealth). Some of us are like the Gallaghers, others are like Steve, all around we're all messed up and all have committed crimes.

Exactly! I was just using the class differentiation as an example of how I relate to the characters. It really doesn't matter where you live anywhere you'll always have your losers, users and abusers. I've done a lotta messed up stuff in my life and that's ok cuz people do stupid ****. I've never in any way been a violent person but I can totally sympathize with Mandy wanting to protect Lip and her relationship with him at any cost

Exactly. At least Karen had a stable roof over her head and loving parents who gave a **** about her. Fiona could be a raging crack addict but no because she's a decent human being
Who are these people? The mother who neglected her in favor of her own problems or the father who didn't want anything to do with her if she wasn't his version of perfection?

She took Frank to Parent/Teacher night. Frank.

The only time I liked Mandy is when Levy was playing her. Kinda wished she was still was playing the role.

But with Karen, I think compared to the other people on the show, she's nice. I mean, you gotten Mandy and Mickey's father, Frank (who seems to be going more deeper and deeper in becoming an evil bastard by each new season and yet, he's always off the hook), Monica, the supermarket store manger... how is that there's people like that when Karen isn't off the hook?

To me, this is interesting story telling when there is one character you can completely hate and yet ignore another complete bastards types because there is one character who seems to outshine them because she is a full blown sociopath. The writers really outdo themselves each season with the characters and how crappy a Gallagher life is.

:applaud

That much we agree on. I never warmed up to this new actress, as it seemed like she didn't even watch the first season to make an attempt to fit into that character's shoes. She just read what was on the page and played it as a completely different character. Her line readings have often seemed completely flat to me.

That is both on the writers and actor imo. The writers did a lotwith Karen in the second season, pushing her into the extremes, but I don't think the actress let go over her influence on the character.

I have never committed a crime. I was taught from a very young age to be afraid of that kind of stuff.

Yea that's like trying to believe somebody when they say they've never *********ed before

I didn't know there was a thread for this show. I've looked before, but I guess I missed it.

Just took three seasons for it to get past three pages and a worthwhile discussion get started lol.

Never say never. I learned that one the hard way.

You probably committed small crimes here and there without knowing they even were a crime. Even if it's watching a movie online - that's still a crime.

As per my last example, I was in a bad place lol. And in a "bad place" or until in a "bad place" - there's really no telling what someone will or will not do and what you end up doing can even surprise you.

I watch shameless online as I have no idea when/if its even shown over here (the uk)

although last year I got sent screener DVDs and had actually finished the whole of season 2 by this time last year

As soon as Jody grabbed her foot I was like "Omg he isn't!!" ****ing Jody man smh "I found the cure for comas!!" lmao

I need to not come into this thread until ive watched the entire episode! well whoever is sitting next to me on my commute home sounds like they will get an eyeful

Kevin is so damn awesome haha that part freaking killed me

^i love kevin so many great characters on this show

this show probably balances comedy and drama better than any show i have seen

Because of who their parents are and how they watched that marriage implode, it doesn't seem like any of the Gallagher kids will be having any healthy relationships any time soon.

It really does. I think the best episode that showcases its balance so far was the last episode of last season, when the baby was born. Dear god, I was bawling my eyes out. So damn good.

Jesus this **** with Karen is ****ing hard to watch. No matter how much I hate that character just seeing her like that is ****ing heartwrenching. But I bout died laughing when she called Himey that "Asian mongoloid" leave it to this show to make me of all people to feel bad about laughing at something. Wow, I honestly don't think that's ever happened before
