Shameless

I hope Jimmy's dead and gone, but I'm not that lucky. I just don't think there's much more they can do with his character. Does the character have any fans? He made Fiona look like a fool for an entire season once again. It seemed as though this season the writers have been showcasing just how selfish, whiney, and untrustworthy Jimmy is and just how little Fiona actually needs him

In season 1 he would always swoop in like a white knight, rescuing Fiona from her troubles... This season, just about every time she needed him, he bailed. I say good riddance.

I enjoyed the scenes between Frank and Lip. I've always seen Frank as the worst possible outcome for Lip. If you listen to some of Frank's monologues, they're more than the ramblings of a drunk, he's saying a lot of insightful things. I think Frank telling Lip not having a plan whatsoever is the way to live served as the wake up call her needed since day one.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Ian running away, but I really dug the scene he and Mickey shared as well as Mandy not batting an eye after realizing her brother is in love with her best friend.

Great finale.

Im a fan of Jimmy and hope he returns. Sucks that Fiona doesn't know the truth and thinks he just ditched her.

The scene of Carl cutting Frank's hair was touching. I hope we see him change if he does become sober

GREAT finale, filled with very small but monumental moments. Every character hot his or her moment to shine in this one, even Sheila.

I almost choked up on the scene with Carl shaving Frank's head. Its always good to see Frank act like a father even though it hardly happens. I get that he's a dirtbag but I'm glad they showed us a side that apparently the kids saw before that keeps them forgiving him (which seems weird cause since they apparently hate Monica). Frank being proud of Lip was a great scene. This was a great finale and I wonder how next season will be.

I don't think they hate Monica at all. They give her chance after chance too. I was actually surprised she didn't pop up at all this season. Glad though. I choked up bad in two scenes. Fiona and Frank and Carl and Frank.

I think Frank is the lesser of the two evils when it comes to he and Monica. As bad as Frank is, as much as he let's the kids down, he's still around. Albeit he's usually in a gutter or scheming/swindling someone, he's still around. I think either Fiona or Lip said something to this affect in one of the episodes featuring Monica.

That scene got me to cry. Just fantastic.

Where do they go from here? This ended too happily however if this show has shown anything it's that the life of a Gallagher is never dull and can turn upside down at a moments notice. Ian has basically committed identity theft, Fiona looks like she's gonna get bored of her job, Lip isn't too keen on leaving it seems so who knows what's gonna happen there. All in all it fustrates me that such a unique and amazing show doesn't get the award recognition it deserves especially when it comes to Rossum, Macy, and Allen.

I expected Frank to die in this episode.
Jimmy should be dead or all the stuff about the mafia caïd makes no sense, the guy was shown has ruthless and was very clear about Jimmy outcome if he didn't behave as ordered ( and Jimmy failed ).
Carl is so dumb ...

I liked Jimmy in the first two seasons. I figured they were writing him out of the show though because he became a real unlikable d-bag in the third season. He was always vain and selfish, but he actually could man up and take responsibility in the first two seasons in ways that Frank never could. His newfound hatred of poverty and inability to make money felt forced.

Still, I was sad to see him go. Is he dead? I kind of think he is. There is no body, but that just feels like a very Shameless way to leave things.

I really do like how much is changing for the characters in this episode. It is actually a great challenge for TV to have characters change but staying enough of the same to maintain a status quo. If the ending is to be believed they blew that up. Jimmy is gone. Ian is gone. Lip may go. Fiona has a fulltime job, so she may be able to get out of poverty with her family soon. Frank will die if he quits drinking (which he won't).

I will be interested to see how they get around this while keeping things as shamelessly poor in the following seasons.

Also, I think Karen is gone for good. Jody too. With her permanently messed up, they really cannot progress her story further than that. Leave it to Shameless to make me hate the character and then be sad by her depressingly unfair ending.

I also agree with the above posters about Rossum and Macy's scene. The level of guilt and mixed feelings she has as she admits she wished for his death and his actual SHAME hidden behind a half-smile as she tells him to do it for the kids or himself...it is powerful stuff. So was Fi saying goodbye to Jimmy.

That was a really great episode.

I agree with basically every point. Especially the Fiona and Frank scene. So powerful. I think it's pretty clear though that Frank's situation is extremely dire. Dude has ****ed himself up. Irreparably. If he doesn't change he's dead or if he doesn't at the least stop drinking. Hell he could still pop oxys and smoke weed but his drinking has to stop. If this show just goes back to Frank just drinking himself stupid day in and day out this show loses all credibility and what makes it pure greatness IMO. These performances deserve Emmys damn it. Does this qualify as a comedic series? If so it should when that category as well

Glad he's gone...IF I buy it, which I don't entirely. Yet. I'm so used to showrunners playing coy, I feel like if it were true, they'd leave it to be confirmed on the show and keep the mystery alive in the interim. Now I'm afraid he's gonna pop back up at the end of the season or something, lol.
