I gotta say, this show is absolutely amazing! Does anyone know if it has been renewed as of yet? One thing I do think they kinda dropped the ball with, at least from a storytelling stand-point, is the scene where Frank head-butted Ian. After the first ep aired and they showed previews for the season it showed a bit of that scene and the following ones and I honestly thought that that was going to come towards the end of the season and be used as a catalyst for the family to finally say **** Frank, cuz let's be honest Frank is a freakin scumbag drunk that makes his young adult daughter not only take care of him and put up with all his ******** but work her ass off supporting the family and taking care of everybody yet, you can still sympathize with him a bit due to Macy's brilliant portrayal and endearing quality. My point is that the whole head-butting his son thing went almost unpunished, cept for Steve's (Jimmy's) little intervention, and let's face it, that is blatant child abuse. But, then again Ian is what, 15? I got into plenty of fist fights with my dad when I was a young man, hell I've gone chasing after my dad with a hatchet before and another time he chased me 3 yards away with a 5 foot long land-scaping timber, **** happens like that in some families. That scene and the following conversation between Fiona and Frank just seemed so damn emotional in the preview that I just didn't think they would go ahead and bust it out in episode 2 but, I digress, these new developments with Steve/Jimmy and now mama Gallagher showing up have become incredibly emotional and engaging and yes, Monica is truly a piece of **** parent. At least Frank does stay in the kids' lives albeit sometimes as a drunken maniac who just breathes chaos but Monica, just wow. What a piece of work. Seriously, I wanted to jump into the tv and strangle that **** last night then stab that fat, black, ghetto-Monique in the eye with a flat head screwdriver. If I had been a member of that family I would have gotten that behemoth outta my damn house quick, especially after pulling the "race-card" about who should be raising Liam.
I really love Joan Cusack's portrayal of Sheila. First off, I'm a sucker for any character that suffers from serious psychiatric neuroses and/or psychoses, always been fascinated by psychology. Joan's portrayal is just astonishing and so utterly heartfelt that you really feel for this woman who has been mentally and emotionally abused by her husband but also has this strength about her. Seriously, she deserves an Emmy for her role. Anyways, rant over lol. That's how I've felt about the show so far, can't wait to see how it all turns out. There's also some other subplots and characters I love I just don't feel like elaborating anymore, this post has been long enough as it is lol
