Doesn't exactly show much, does it? Not well cut.
Will wait for a full trailer.
This just looks watered down and PG-13 ish, and the cutesy opening with the kid doesn't help.
It's R rated.
One thing I really don't understand in all of this is people complaining about there being a kid character, basically viewing that fact as evidence the film will suck.
The list of iconic R rated action films with prominent kid characters is long. Black has already used the trope a lot himself, and it's never been a reason for holding back on swearing and violence:
The Nice Guys, The Long Kiss Goodnight, The Last Boy Scout, Lethal Weapon if you want to count Murtaugh's family.
Iron Man 3, also, while not R rated it wasn't so because of the inclusion of the kid.
They do look similar. But Holbrook can act, at least if Logan's anything to go by.
EDIT: Interesting the Predator's without armor in the pic. Sure it's just come off in battle or whatever, but it'd be pretty cool if this was some really-junior "cadet" Predator having to prove himself, first hunt. Like he hasn't been issued most of the cool **** yet.
Might be a Predator they recovered at the crash site, took back to the lab, and then it gets loose.
I don't get how a kid, playing with a toy, can crash an otherwise alien space ship...
Well, it's not a toy. It's part of the Predator gauntlet. I don't think the kid is controlling the ship, move for move, more like he just activated the ship which flies to his location and crash lands. Or maybe it's clever editing and they're from different parts of the film entirely. *shrug*
It looks like Reqiuem with better actors, except for Munn, and with elements reminiscent of Stranger Things and First Blood. I hate they decided to have another Predator hybrid, this one being half human.
I had been thinking it's more inspired by how some tribes believed if you consumed the flesh of your fallen enemies you would be imbued with their strengths. That only on a genetic level. Black confirmed as much on twitter.
If Black is true to his roots, he'll kill the kid when he tries to befriend the hybrid and the classic Pred will be the real hero of the film, while the humans will be the bad guys.
I don't recall Black ever doing this...?
