Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel! - Part 1

That would be nice. She cameo'd in the second as the mistress of the drug dealer so it would be a interesting continuity link between the primary Predator films.

Adult film star Teri Weigel played the drug dealer's mistress in Predator 2.

20 years I am waiting for this movie. I hope I see it one day.

Same here. Loved the first movie. It's what got me interested in the RE Howard books. Conan The Destroyer is a guilty pleasure of mine. Not as good as the original, but fun to watch none the less.

Maybe an independent company can produce the movie and Universal can just distribute it?

I just want to see it. I dont see reasons why this movie still wasnt made. Conan Barbarian costed 16M and Destroyed costed 18M. Both were R-rated movies I think. And first movie was ahead of it's time. Literally. I think original reviews when movie come out was it was too gory, too much blood or unecessary violence or something like that. And that's what *** up sequel development as they wanted to make something more for general audience and toned it down. I remember hearing about that. And let's not forget regardless of how Destroyers end up it was still profitable movie. First one made 130M, and second one 100M.

I dont see why nobody invested in this day of age in this property, where good R rated movies are sucessful on box office for small budget (30-50M). I guess with Arnold being so old they dont see investing money into something which isnt possible franchise of 6 movies. As Arnold likely wanted to make just one final one.

It's sad we live in this state where everything needs to be franchise or a universe.

Well, there's always King Conan.

I sorta feel bad for Arnold. When you take a step back, he does feel like a product of his time, especially in the past few years. And the world has changed so much (especially with casting) since then, that a smart film maker would have to utilize Arnold intelligently.

Stallone has battled this too (and his history of his own worst enemy: his hubris), but at least he had 'Creed', plus that Oscar nom.

I mean, I think he'd need to do a fun team up movie with The Rock to get noticed. But carrying a movie on his own is probably not going to work these days. That being said, I'm glad he's doing smaller films lately, and sorta embracing his age.

I was sure that was her but then when I was told that it was also over 20 years ago and though I have watched the movie since then I never exactly paused it to look too closely at the actress' face to confirm it either. :o

Looking at the trivia for the film though it is definitely not her and the only bit she does show up in is that mobile hq video screen during an interrogation scene they cut.

Elpidia Carrillo, who played Anna in the first Predator film, has her name listed in the sequel's credits yet doesn't seem to appear in the actual film. Look carefully during the scene inside Peter Keyes' mobile headquarters and you will spot her. When Keyes (Gary Busey) describes how the creature activated a self-destruct device in Predator (1987), you can briefly spot Anna on one of the video screens. Carrillo filmed a debriefing scene in which she talks to the camera and describes the events of the first film, but it was cut from the sequel.

"Hey Arnold, come do a Luke Skywalker cameo in The Predator"

"Can I have the Han Solo role instead?"

"No our cast is too stacked"

*Production gets delayed 5 months and everyone drops out*

Hey if Arnold can hit everything under sun without even aiming (he just kind of points his guns in the general direction of the baddies), the I'm not going to harp on this.

And I say that as a gun enthusiast myself.

I'm the same. I've seen so many mistakes with actors and guns that it doesn't even bother me anymore. I wouldn't ever expect Munn to 100% properly hold a gun anyway. :funny:

He's the master of firing from the hip, especially in Commando which is so bad its good :D

Lying on the sofa tonight and AvP came on. Forgot how much that film sucked. There was nothing else to watch and I was feeling pretty lazy so sat through it. They made the Predators so bulky and heavy looking, they were more like wrestlers charging around than the lithe & precise cat-like moves of the original.

The one and only single thing I liked about AvP was Weyland; I'm a Lance Henriksen fan anyway but I would have liked to have seen more background to his corporation which eventually features so heavily in the Alien films.

Watching the film got me thinking about the Predators, and their background. Has there ever been any Canonical synopsis of their history? They're a bit of an enigma really; they are undoubtedly highly, highly advanced in terms of technology - having mastered space travel, advanced plasma weaponry, etc - yet they are almost tribal and primitively aggressive in terms of their culture, clothing, mindset and propensity for hunting. The two attributes seem almost at odds with one another and it's very difficult to envisage a scenario where there is a group of scientific Predators working on technology in labs, doing experiments and so on - all whilst sharpening their claws and growling at each other. They can travel the universe yet seem to be obsessed only with attaining certain status within their own collective tribes, which they do so by hunting.

Which got me thinking - is the technology actually theirs, or did they conquer another race and 'steal' it?

Or were they originally a more diverse humanoid race like us but became so advanced that technology took over, catering to all their wants/needs and thus they were left free to explore whatever other passions they cared to indulge in - such as hunting?

I've always' wondered that too. I think there's comic books about the Predators world etc but I ain't too sure.

For all we know the Predators we see like this are doing their version of "Naked and Afraid" out in the backwoods of some planet to prove their ability to survive with limited resources.

In otherwords: a machismo equivalent to flexing your muscles and going "loook at how tough I am".

That new release August 2018 date bums me out. But I guess if the film will be in tip top shape, it will be worth it. But f***, it is not even August 2017 yet.

I take the release date move as good news. I'm hopeful that the top people at the studio have been watching dailies from the film and see the potential for a big success. A summer release can be a good thing for this movie.

It seems like all the films I'm looking forward to most the last couple of years get pushed way back or just don't open locally. The Nice Guys, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Baby Driver, Annihilation, Hell or High Water, now this.

Black says he's good with the move to August though:
In truth, I endorsed this entirely. It's a great thing -- also, a bit of a relief not to open against Marvel's Black Panther in Feb.

I wonder if it gives him more time for Doc Savage, too, since it was originally meant to film this year before the filming for Predator got pushed back from last October to February.

Also;
I am standing on set next to a 7-foot tall gentleman in a Predator suit -- so no, it is not all CGI.

Well fck me, I hope that they never answer any of these questions. AvP films demonstrated just how awful these kind of storieswere. The charm of the original Predator was its mysterious nature and at the end of the film we were nowhere near being enlighten on the nature of the bloodthirsty alien who gave Dutch & his men plus 1 woman so much grief.

I never said they should do it on film - I asked has it been done (in any medium).

Last pic is a huge spoiler. It wasn't too hard to realise who that was.
