But something buzzed about in comments on the earlier news might explain:

"Marvel is extremely, extremely tight-fisted and had already paid Pearce for a draft he has yet to write before they even hired Black. Now apparently they want that draft. This has nothing to do with Black who will have a free hand in both writing, re-writing and directing."

I don't trust Shane Black these days. If he was going to direct the movie along time ago then I wouldn't be skeptical because of his involvement. However, I am still going to see Ironman 3 but will walk into it with low expectations on the other hand. I still have the bad taste of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang in my mouth, I have this bad feeling that he wants to make an Ironman sequel that is more serious than it should be and less fun than it should be.
