Shang - Chi

I hope its closer to the quality of Doctor Strange than those two films.

I couldn’t agree more to this comment...and right after that i put my Doctor Strange BR into the player. Still one of the best to me

I just hope they go, the raid was good, john wick was good, we can do better.

They have the money, they can get the best talent. Make the best martial arts/action film ever with a good story.

Yes please! About time for a huge martial arts film.

I want some crazy big trouble in little china type stuff in this movie lol.
I hope whoever is working on this is a fan of BTilC, ETD, The Raid and John Wick.

I seriously hope Shang Chi is closer to these classic 70s martial arts films and not the gravity-defying wire work of Crouching tiger, Hidden dragon or House of Flying Daggers. I want it to look like actual fighting prowess, not people walking in the air or running across rooftops barely skimming the surface.

It would be great if this can be as successful as Black Panther and Captain Marvel, but I expect it to perform similarly to Doctor Strange which is still great.

I'm also excited to see martial arts in blockbuster films again. Other than Kung Fu Panda and the Karate Kid, I don't remember watching a movie this decade that had a lot of martial arts.

Guess it depends on your definition of martial arts.

Kung Fu Yoga?

And a few other Jackie Chan films this decade too: Police Story 2013, The Foreigner etc.

BTW Kung Fu Yoga was one of the highest grossing films in China, but a big box office flop in India. I guess the Indians don't appreciate this kind of film.

Literally every super hero film of the past decade has featured martial arts in some capacity or form.

The majority of action films made showcase martial arts in some capacity.

Did ya watch Darrdevil on Netflix? Well... You watched a long form martial arts movie for three seasons.

It is frankly impossible to have not seen anything from Bourne to John Wick over the past ten years and not seen martial arts and not see them used often in a film.

Bourne are martial arts movies now. Yeah. i searched martial arts movies in google, it didn't show any superhero film. How about no? okay.

i haven't heard of that movie before.

The Madarin being Shang Chi’s father would be a smart move

Agreed. You get around the iffyness of Fu Manchu as a character, plus I'm also not sure what his film rights look like.

Marvel don't have any rights whatsoever for him now.

Fu Manchu is public domain. No rights needed anymore.

But he's also an infamously racist character that Marvel shouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

I think he's confusing "Kung Fu" with "Martial Arts" or some other obtuseness.

Creed is WHOLE movie about a specific Martial Art.

Also, Deadpool says "hi."

Personally I'm disappointed with the lack of Quack-Fu in modern cinema.

Hope we get something like Ellis' Secret Avengers issue with David Aja.

Shang-Chi/Howard crossover confirmed.

"Martial arts" literally means "the art of fighting/war". Any fighting you see in a movie is a martial art (from Boxing to Wrestling to Jiu Jitsu to Karate to Muay Thai, etc), and these days it's more likely Mixed Martial Arts as fight choreographers will pull techniques from a range of disciplines.

Hell, The Winter Soldier had one of the greatest Mixed Martial Artists on the planet, Georges St Pierre, cast as Batroc.

(notice the "Superman punch" in both)

Come to think of it, it'd be pretty f***ing cool to bring Batroc/GSP as a henchman in Shang-Chi.
