Shawn Ryan and Martin Campbell team up for "Last Resort on ABC"

wow, what a conclusive finale and a great one, too..

basically what finally happened in the end was that...

[blackout] Lieutenant Shepard, the XO and COBB foiled the mutiny and killed the mutineers, 2 F18's launched an attack on the Colorado and nuked it, along with Marcus Chaplin, who was the only person remaining on board, the crew of the USS Colorado got back home, the Chinese left the island for home and Autumn Reeser's character assassinated the President [/blackout]

a cancelled series with an absolute final resolution... very rare...

Also...

[BLACKOUT]XO's wife, who was kidnapped, was released. Reese's character was behind it to prevent her from going to the island. XO's wife is given the evidence to expose the President's misdeeds and eventually clear the crew of USS Colorado. She releases it to the press. Reunites with Sam at the end.[/BLACKOUT]

Great ending. I just wished [BLACKOUT]Serrat was killed or something.[/BLACKOUT]

Just watched the finale. I'm genuinely moved. SOOO glad they got to resolve things, so instead of feeling like a series that ended when **** was just getting good, it now feels like a really great miniseries. I almost think it was done a favor. I can't really imagine the story being able to sustain itself for 3/4/5 years.

Caught the last 3 eps tonight, shame they didn't have just a couple more as everything was very rushed in the end, and I'm not sure the drastic actions of Autumn Reeser killing the President was needed, I just hope she gets a new show soon.

The poor Sophie, the French beauty never got herself any XO lovin' and I agree Serrat should have been killed, preferably by the COB.

I was a little bit confused as to who had set up the kidnapping of the XO's wife.

I thought Speedman hung with Braugher really well as things got more intense between them, I can see another lead in a show coming his way.

You're not the only one. It's there, I think it's intentional, and it's icky. None of that, please, lol.

Just as well the show ended when it did, I'm not sure she could handle the Braugher power!

Yeah, but I'll take a rush job over the alternative.

If that finale would have had 30-60 more minutes it would have been great. Overall it was pretty good...really rushed but good. Beats the hell out of a non resolution cliffhanger.

Finally caught the last episode, and while I was a little dissapointed in how rushed it all was, I thought overall it was brilliant, some amazing moments and a solid resolution.

I was sad to see Marcus killed, while I didnt always agree with him he still did the right thing by not bombing Pakistan in the first episode. The ending was very emotional and a great wrap-up to the series.

Its a damn shame it wont get a 2nd season, although it was difficult to see were the show could go after this. I still wouldnt mind this coming back someday as I'm sure the writers could come up with something.

I also finally watched the finale. Yeah, it was rushed, but considering the circumstances, I thought they handled everything pretty well. I found the series as a whole to be all over the place in quality, but there were talented people doing good work on it (even if it didn't all mesh together right for me), so I still consider it an admirable failure and hope they all find greater success with their next endeavors.

P.S. - Somebody at ABC, put Autumn Reeser on SHIELD ASAP please, thanks.

I agree with the previous two posts -- that was a classy way to say 'goodby'!

It did seem kind of rushed toward the end of the episode with Scott Speedman just showing up back in the USA and purposely scanning the crowd to see his wife -- I thought he believed she was dead.

I kept trying to spot the point in the episode where they switched gears and decided to wrap it up -- it obviously came before Chaplin decided to stay on the sub as it was bombed. If the series had continued, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have written his death for only halfway through the season!

And there was no real closure on the loathsome Serrat, the Frenchwoman, or the 'good' SEAL and his girlfriend. And Autumn Reeser's final act kind of came out of nowhere, I thought. :wow:

Great show! Sad to see it go.

!

The finale was indeed rushed, but I'm glad we got one. I was sad to see Chaplin go, but it definitely was a conclusive and emphatic end to the show.

Great cast all around...a lot of candidates for superhero films. Hopefully, we'll see some of them on the big screen in various roles going forward.

Saw the final two episodes. Thought they were good given the circumstances. The thing about the XO's wife was surprising as was the shooting at the end. Didn't really like the kidnapping storyline anyway. I thought we would get to see the information exposed and how the public responded to it.

Am I the only one who completely forgot about the rapist?

Glad you brought that up --- I didn't forget about him, because for three episodes in a row they kept showing the clip of him heading off into the jungle in the recap at the beginning of the show. So I kept figuring he would show up.

But he wasn't distinctive-looking enough for me to remember him . . .
▶▶ is that who the vile 'head mutineer' sailor was? The guy that Chaplin shockingly shot at point blank range in the sub passageway??

For this show, I didn't pay much attention to the recap portion. But, it was only in the last episode that I payed attention. So, when I say him again I laughed at how I completely wiped him out of memory. In fact, I thought he'd be dead since they left him to be on his own. I figured the locals would've killed him for "justice."

Yeah, he was the one Chaplin shot in anger/sadness over what happened to Brennan.

Ah -- thanks for the confirmation. I guess that kind of mitigates Chaplin shooting him -- he was already pissed off at him for the rape. I was still kind of shocked that a commander would play executioner like that!

Now . . . can you help me out and explain why Autumn Reeser shot the President?? :yay:

No problem.

Well, I think the situation was a "kill or be killed" type of thing at that point since the dude was angry at how he and Shepard screwed their plans. Plus, dude was going to blow up Maryland.

I think she killed him for revenge of being forced to kill the man she loved (or learned she loved). And maybe to prevent him from resigning and being pardoned of his crimes like Nixon.

You obviously stayed on top of the storylines better, and have more insight, than I did!

My wife said the same thing about her motive for killing the President . . . but he didn't really 'make her do it', and even so, it still seems pretty extreme! In a room full of people?? Her life is over!

Yeah, though it was really more like the guy killing himself, it was still done to make it look like she was on their side and thus, still give her a chance to expose them.

But, the shooting was definitely extreme and shocking. I guess she was that angry, that she was willing to throw her life away in that matter.

^Maybe she thought once the truth came she would be celebrated as a hero and let free? I dont know, just speculating, but yeah it was a bit random.

Still a great finale though.

I doubt it. With the way things are set up, I don't see how she could not be sent to prison.

^Well unless the show comes back we will never know, maybe the seal guy who was helping her breaks her out and she gets the island were the series took place, its up in the air really.

As fantastic as the show was, there's no way she wouldn't face the consequences of shooting the President.

^As I said, we will never know, she would definately go to prison initially, but who knows what would happen beyond that.
