Shazam Shazam General Discussion and Speculation - Part 1

I hope Black Adam's costume won't be based on the New 52. Even though Shazam's costume looks exactly like the New 52 version.

This may be reaching, but the outer edge of the tiger emblem looks to be "corded", kind of like his classic corded cape connection.

Shazam is part of the DCEU outside of a few random rumors it has never been suggested otherwise.

Hey, I don’t care one way or another. But all of those toys (especially Harley) suggest that Shazam exists in a universe where DC Comics does too, hence not the DCEU. Otherwise... how do you explain the Harley dolls? Jester Harley? Dini’s Harley? Doesn’t that scream merchandising for a popular comic book character, rather than for a real psychopath in a secret black ops team? Don’t they all scream DC Comics character merchandise, rather than dolls made from real life people? They do to me!

The jester costume does exist in the DCEU.

What Harley dolls?

What Harley dolls?
The set photo of the toy shop features plush dolls of Harley, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman.

Merchandise featuring non DCEU logos has been used before in DCEU movies, so I don't think it discredits Shazam being connected with the rest of the DCEU.

The merchandise is likely a fun little Easter egg that won't be acknowledged in the final film.

Thank you!

That’s kinda weird but I don’t think it’s proof of this being outside the DCEU.

That’s what I’m thinking.
I doubt there will be any sort of focus on them.

Why is there so much focus on him wearing a muscle suit?

Superman and Batman had muscle suits

Black panther too

The editor of Collider gave his approval.

To be fair, merchandise and movies about real heroes has been a concept in superhero universes for quite some time.

Just last year, Logan had a major plot point that hinged on the existence of fictionalized X-Men comics within the X-Men universe.

Guess they had to do something with all that DCEU merch they didn't sell. :hehe:

Because it's slightly excessive. It's giving Levi a pinheaded look - not to mention that hair dye is as black as it gets. Both are somewhat jarring in set photos.

Ehhh
A lot of what I’m seeing seems to be making an issue of him wearing a muscle suit at all.

People are acting like this is the first CBM to do something like that.

The hair does look a bit unnatural. I don't know how to explain it other than it looks like the type of costume you'd see for some amusement park character.

Yup. I somewhat applaud the effort to be comic book authentic, but it's not translating well at the moment for me.

By comparison look at Cavill as Supes. It's padded, but not to the point where his head looks so tiny.

Does Billy just imagine whatever comes to mind or he ages and muscles up?

Former certainly explains the obvious design and styling approach.

In earlier comics, Shazam was based on how Billy's father looked, I guess he was a big dude.

Now, if this movie exists in DCEU, Shazam is how Billy imagines a superhero should look (based on Superman), in addition to how his father looked.

And Egyptian design elements and Greek design elements are a part of Shazam's costume, which are incorporated by default into Shazam's costume, I don't think that has anything to do with what Billy imagines, which explains design and styling approach..

Except for the muscle/padding size, I'm loving this suit even more with each image. The texture/sheen is just about exactly right, the cape is great, I love the big, bright lightning bolt on his chest. It's a pretty ideal superhero costume.

This movie may actually be on my radar now because of the suit alone. :funny:

I like it

not too fond on the size of the arm muscles and mustard yellow logo though

I like that the abs aren't super defined especially

They did the muscle suit thing perfectly in MOS.
Light enhancements to actors actual build is as far as it should go.
