I guess I was hoping for something like this:

So......lines?

The editor of Collider gave his approval.

To be fair, merchandise and movies about real heroes has been a concept in superhero universes for quite some time.

Just last year, Logan had a major plot point that hinged on the existence of fictionalized X-Men comics within the X-Men universe.

Kingdom Come also had a restaurant based around the superheroes in the DC Universe.

People like villains all the time. Harley could be to kids what Billy the Kid was back in the day.

Then doesn't it make sense that he look badass? If he's the manifestation of a modern-day 15 year old kid's idea of what looks cool? Unless this a period piece, Billy's suit would look like Superman's or any of the other modern heroes in DCEU. It Wouldn't look dated and cheesy.

No, because the gag, I assume, is that it's what an imaginative KID would think of as badass, not what is actually intimidating or cool. It's just a tad "much" as a persona, and yet not quite enough in the design department. The whole point is that it IS somewhat generic and cheesy.

I really don't see what's "dated" about this outfit. The leotard look is very much still in vogue in superhero cinema and comics. It has very similar texturing to many of the modern comic book outfits. There are armored elements here and there, which, like many of the superhero gauntlets and belts in modern interpretations, are layered and textured. It's not like it's got a sash and buccaneer boots on it.

I think it looks pretty good. As usual, you don't know what's him and what's the suit. The detail/texture on it is pretty similar to Man of Steel. Not being very familiar with the character, the details on it seem kind of magic-y, as the character is magic-based. I'm not sure where the tigers fit in, though.

Suit is fine, adding any more design elements would make it look overly designed.

Also, it's worth noting that the suit is not tech based or of alien origin but it is created by magic, which means it should not look 'modern' but it should look 'timeless'.

adjective
adjective: timeless
not affected by the passage of time or changes in fashion.

How does magic automatically equate to timeless?

Second thing - the suit is conjured up by Billy's imagination correct? It may explain some of the cartoonishness. How the heck would he know about textures like that thouh? Also, size wouldn't be an issue if it looked more akin to Levi's kind of physique. The problem is he's naturally lanky.

That may change once seen on screen, but not at the moment. Wish they had toned down the padding and the size of the bolt on his chest.

1. The costume has Egyptian & Greek design elements, the very fact that it is supposed to be made from cloth like material (as opposed to Kevlar or other modern materials) adds to the timeless quality.

2. Black Adam's costume is 'similar' to Shazam's costume, which is also magic based.

I can say how Billy imagines himself as a 'grownup' Superhero (like how his father looked or how he admires Superman) is how he looks as a grown up superhero but It is not clear how much influence Billy's imagination has in suit design.

He was lean and lanky before but he did gain some bulk and muscle, this is how he looked two months ago, I would say he looks bigger.

People 'hated' small size of "S" shield on Superman Returns suit, but here you want a smaller sized bolt ? OK.

"How does magic equate to timeless?"

One word: Verisimilitude.

At the very least, seems Sandberg is at least aware the photos are out there...but not saying much since, hey, he's busy shooting the film. In response to someone asking why he's gone 'dark' with these photos out there.

Can’t say or share anything about Shazam and since that’s all of my life right now there’s not much to tweet.

Some photos of Freddy.

I don't think the bolt is big enough.

The eerie thing is that he used real world people as models for most of his work so out there someone actually looks like that. :o

Seeing Levi as Shazam is really reassuring. I'm fine with the over the top muscles, given the child's fantasy aspect of the character. It also reminds me of those rumours of Levi being up for Superman before Man of Steel. While he got really lucky and missed a trainwreck, part of me would still love to have seen Levi as Superman as he was my favourite choice for the role back then. Bulked up he's a perfect visual fit and we know from Chuck that he could do an amazing Clark Kent.

Yeah I own Mythology. It’s a great book about Ross’s art. One of my all time favorites.
