Shazam Shazam General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

Well they must be pretty confident in this movie. Yeah... I know there's always news of the sequel being lined up these days. But notice it's not just Levi but the director as well.

Faster sequel production is definitely good. The kids grow fast especially Ian and Faithe. For example, Asher already looks a bit different now than he was 6 months ago. His voice drops too. We're lucky that Zachary is at least 6'3 so he'd always be the bigger one. Wide gap between movies would be too jarring.

The movie would just follow the kids while they grow up, just like current Spider-Man, in Civil War he was a kid, now he's in High School. For example - Tom Holland is now 22 but plays 18 year old, similarly Asher Angel (who is currently 16) can keep playing as teenager for next six years.

Shazam production time is shorter than say, Aquaman. As long that the next movie sets in '2 years later' and not just 'several months later' then it wouldn't be too jarring.
A bit trickier for Ian and Faithe, who are 12 and 11, especially for reshoots after long months apart.
But it's obviously no problem for professional big Hollywood studio like WB, they did Harry Potter franchise, IT etc.

Further proof this film is not expected to make tentpole money. The tracking is probably in line with their hopes and with these reactions the legs should be good even with Endgame coming. Having the social media embargo lift so early and the review embargo so early says internally WB has everything they want and need from this film.

Ugh Fandango just informed me my showing was a mistake in the system and refunded my money. That makes me very sad...

I'm sorry, dhandler. That's tough luck. How did they inform you? By email? I only ask because I believe you're the second person I've heard from that had such an issue, and I remember being a little concerned about my ticket purchase because of the way some of the fine print spoke about VIPs. So far I haven't received anything from Fandango. I hope that means all is well. I wonder if I should call my theater to confirm, though.

Yeah email. My guess is someone accidentally put up showings for Sunday that were supposed to be for Saturday and I saw it before the correction.

If there was a problem they would let you know right away and refund your money. Fandango is second to none about stuff like that.

Very sorry that this happened to you..
Experiences like yours are the primary reason that I am waiting for premiere week.
Many more opportunities for screenings if something goes wrong.

My favorite thing about the reviews so far had been how most of them pointed out that this movie had a lot of heart, which is often missing from "fun" superhero movies.
What I was worried about was Asher Angel/Billy being too overshadowed by Zach Levi's antics and Freddy but some of the critics are saying he carries the emotional side of the character pretty well.

That's good to hear. I felt bad for the kid when trolls like Grace were ****talking him and gushing over Freddie after the first trailer was released.

I wasn't completely sold on the poster until I scrolled down and saw Billy leaping off of the roof. I love the lightning bolt streaking down through the poster and striking him, as if it's transforming him into Shazam.
