As much as like BBC's Sherlock, they kinda dropped the ball with their Mori. (Not spoiling it). I understood the actor's intent but I still though he was a miscast. I hope Jared can provide the menace and creepiness that the other Mori lacked.

I found him extremely unsettling which is good. I think he was a perfect antithesis to Cumberbatch's Sherlock who is very restrained while Mori is very... expressive shall we say. I look forward to his appearance next series.

I wonder why Holmes is the one with a gun rather than Watson, who carries his old service revolver on occasion. It also looks like a gun ahead of the time period Holmes is set in, like from WWII.

keep in mind that I love BBC's Sherlock but I think he was a miscast. Then again he only appeared for a brief moment.

He wasn't unsettling though I 'get' what e was trying to do: Thr most unlikely and unhinged. But he didn't carry any gravity either.

I don't think he was miscast. I think he was quite good for what they were/are going for. The question then becomes, do you like that direction for the character?

I like it,

Well each to his own.

I felt that the "twist" was extremely obvious. Random gay guy comes and goes for no reason and just happens to be called to "Jim" (short for James) in the episode where Moriarty is about to make an appearance? It was so obvious I initially thought it was a red herring. Though its probably only because I've read the books as my family didn't get it and I recall turning to my sister and seeing her mouth hit the floor.

Harris looks like Hugo Weaving and ahh there's my sweet Noomi Rapace
looking forward to the trailer on friday

I was tricked myself.

Since they're not showing Noomi then I guess I'll wait for the trailer. Speaking of which, besides Moriarty, I'm excited to see Mycroft, hope we get to see him as well in the trailer.

I hated The BBC Moriarty. It was just weird and out of tone with everything else in the show for me. His voice/speech pattern was annoying too.

I felt the same way you did. I was cringing, embarrassed to be watching him. The fact that the series had been so brilliant up to that point made it even worse.

Here's a higher quality of the ET preview.

Footage looks great, I hope its another fun movie like the first one. RDJ and Jude Law's chemistry is so ridiculously perfect its unbelievable.

Footage looks good. But it's not worth watching with those goddamn hosts narrating the entire thing.

They really have something special. They can read cereal boxes and it would come across as brilliant. I would watch those two together in anything.

Looks like a German Mauser C96. Mausers were in production in the late 1880s through the start of WW2 and were an extremely popular semi-automatic pistol throughout Europe during this time period. So it's not a stretch at all to have Holmes with one.

(A fun little fact: Han Solo's pistol is based on the Mauser).

The actor was Irish and he drifted between a Irish and English accent but it just sounded odd and annoying

The side of the train exploding looked cool and RDJ is clearly having fun with the role again.

Thanks for all that info man, very interesting.

I was wondering if you guys and gals could help me out. I remember from the trailers for the first film Adler being dressed in lingerie in a hotel scene with Holmes. What happened to it? Was this a deleted scene or one that was re-shot? Why?

If Jared Harris is half as creepy here as he was on Fringe, this should be pretty great.
It's strange because while I find him to be a satisfactory choice, the fact that it's so safe and uninspired is cause for my disappointment. I've no doubt he'll inject the right tone of mischievousness and brilliance Moriarty is known for, but I don't get the sense that it will be a great performance.

I'm still divided on it. Maybe if my expectations are completely thrown off the loop will I begin to like it. It's no help that I was truly psyched when DDL and Pitt were rumored. :(
