The thing about Pitt is I don't think he's EVER played a villian, let alone super villian. Troy was the closest he got to a villian I guess, doesn't really count. Although, isn't Pitt voicing the villian in that new CGI movie comming out?lol
But I'd love to see Pitt take on Moriarty and agree Pitt would be a perfect counter to the RDJ casting.

The 2nd time I watched Sherlock Holmes I couldn't understand one thing.

*SPOILER*
It was mentioned Blackwood killed 5 women prior to the opening scene when he was caught. Wasn't it all a hoax? Was that girl in the beginning faking like the guard did in the jail? I don't remember if they ever explained that.
Find a little movie called KALIFORNIA. Pitt plays a murdering psychotic serial killer and rapist.

I really hope they get Pitt for Moriarty. RDJ vs. Pitt = epic

My second choice for Moriarty would be Christian Bale.

Think about it. It would be an image salvaging role.

Each time I watch this movie the more I enjoy it. I was worried that it would feel like a sequel to something that never came before but it didn't. Maybe that was because I was familiar with the characters before I saw the movie though. I think this shows though that you can stay fairly faithful to a literary character and make a good movie. I wish someone would restart the Tarzan series.

I've thought about him, too. I'd be more confident in Bale if he hadn't been accused of mailing in performances recently.

I saw this for the first time a few nights ago and though it was a fantastic movie.

I hope they do get Pitt for Moriarty or another great actor like Bale.

Yeah, his performance in Terminator may have not been the greatest but that wasn't his fault, that would be the script and direction. No actor would have been able to turn in a great performance with those standing in their way. Bale would be a pretty good Moriarty though he may be a bit young compared to RDJ.

Bale as Moriarty to Holmes:

"ARE YOU PROFESSIONAL OR NOT?!!!"

Just watched this for the first time. I'm surprised it took me so long to see it. I truly enjoyed it and had a lot of fun. I thought the overall look of the film was fantastic, and the setting was genuinely interesting. I LOVED the editing tricks to show off the brilliance of Sherlock, which leads me to the man himself.

Robert. Downey. Jr.

What an actor. He's probably 50% of the reason (if not more) that I enjoyed this movie so much. The guy's probably had one of the greatest Hollywood comebacks ever. He shows off why he really is a FANTASTIC actor. His Holmes was superb, and I don't think there's one thing I didn't like about him. I must give a lot of credit to the scripting of the character as well, as there was some great stuff to work with. Even the little things like disappearing into the smoke made me smile. Not to mention his full-on detective mode anywhere and everywhere -from smelling and tasting to analyzing and observing.

All in all, very enjoyable film and I hope to see a great sequel come from Ritchie and the gang. In the next one, I'd love to see some deeper exploration of the London citizens of this period. I think there's a lot that can be done. For instance, I liked the little bit with the gypsy woman. Just a fun look at the culture and setting of Sherlock's London. Not only that, but I'd love to hear Sherlock berating a gypsy woman again. :funny:

Also, I love both the Pitt and Bale suggestions for Moriarty. I think both could easily pull it off, and definitely have fun doing it. It'd be great for Bale for sure.

Stephen Summers is in pre-production on that.

RDJ and Bale, two of the biggest blockbuster stars, in the same movie?

I think the world would implode on itself from too much awesome.

First Batman took on Wolverine.

Then he will take on Iron Man.

Holy. S***.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I would probably faint with excitement. :woot:

Also, and I know his name gets thrown out a lot (and it damn well should), I think Oldman as Moriarty would kick some major ass. It would also factor into the age thing that some people brought up. I know his name is tossed around a lot here on the Hype, but I think he would genuinely be really slick as Holmes' arch enemy.

I never would've thought of Oldman. That's an excellent idea.

I watched it for the first time on DVD... wow its an excellent film.

I would love to see that as well. Gary is just a phenomenal actor. I would also have to say that Bill Nighy would be a great choice as Moriarty as well.

Thelma & Louise , Kalifornia ( a serial killer ), Cool World , The Devil's Own were towards the begining of his career but he's played villians. The rest of his career most of his characters have been on the fence; Twelve Monkeys , Fight Club , Interview w/ the Vampire , Troy , Jesse James etc.
Pitt can be the villian and be likeable at the same time.

I think Pitt will get this role and he will do a good job but if not there is a good list of people that could take it . I'm thinking Ralph Fiennes might also be someone to consider.

I'd rather not have Bale as Moriarty to be honest. Dunno why that excites people to be even more honest.

I'd rather have someone with a bit of charisma.

isnt Brad pitt confirmed as morianti or something....

Bale would be ok... Iron man vs Batman in an alternate universe and time
