shooter on the va tech campus

wow ... i know someone who used to go there ... this is horrific ...

anyways ... i can kind of relate to this situation ... someone was also shot dead at my school and it made me think whether i should apply to that school ... it was really scary ...

hmmm ... i really feel sorry for all the families and friends of the victims ... it really is sad ...

This kind of thing always makes me ask myself...if I were there, would I run, or would I try to do something.

I always like to tell myself I'd try something, anything to help...but until you're there, who knows.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the V Tech students and their families...:(

I'm just waiting for those *******s to come out who are like, "Long Live *insert gunman's name here*!"

Me too. mostly middle schoolers have a ****ed up interpretation of this and act like "he did just what the rest of us wish we could do!" and crap like that. Im sure there will be a website up soon similar to that after this shooters life story is smothered over cable news. And yeah, u were right about the oriental part. i am pretty surprised about that. I always picture an american snapping over something stupid. If this was a muslim, the media would have a whole bunch of crazy speculation on this. i am hoping that the death toll doesn't get any higher and all the other ppl who got hurt get into stable condition

another victim comfirmed:

reema samaha

they posted her facebook but you have to be logged in to look at it

RIP :(

Should be the opposite, in my opinion. That's the reason all this **** happens, too easy access to guns as it is. I know quite a few people that own guns, not all legally, and they ain't got no business having them.

Im sorry, i got to protect myself

There are public facebook groups that people have created in memory of her already. She was very beautiful. This is so sad.

its so tragic now that there's facebooks and myspace profiles because you can see the lives of the victims and who they were. its just so sad you feel like you know them personally. what a horrible day

Hey guys, I'm a long time reader of the forms, but I haven't posted in awhile, and I have since lost my info to get on here. Thats why it says I just signed up. Anyway, I am a current Senior at VT and as a Hokie I wanted to thank you all for your kind words in this difficult time. Its very sad and things like this upset the entire country, and after Columbine and 9/11 I thought that I knew how loss felt, now I really do know. All my "main" friends are ok as far as I know. But as was discussed, in such a small community chances are very good that I have had classes or know some of the students. I just hate that a university that has given me so much in my four years here will forever be remembered for this. The toll is now 33 including the shooter, with many others injured. I suppose Im just trying to write as some sort of emotional release. So I will most likely ramble for the rest of this. What upsets me the most is seeing those images of places I walk in or around every weekday. I had a class last semester in one of the rooms on the second floor of Norris Hall, and all the news channels say things like rampage and massacre and you really understand how graphic and harmful those phrases are. As of right now, our community waits for word from officials as to the identities of our friends and families, but on a day like this we are all Hokies. We are asking all of the country to wear orange and maroon tomorrow in remembrance of those lost and injured and our heroes already mentioned and stories of our heroes still to come. In relevance to this board I am reminded of an issue of Spider-Man I had during my youth. A gunman pulls his weapon on a women, and her boyfriend steps in front of her and offers himself instead, Spider-Man then comes into the subway cab and disposes of the crook, but then thinks I am not the real hero..the real hero didn't have any powers but instead only had his own courage. I hope we all possess this same courage in a time when it is needed most. Thanks for reading and god bless.

I'll definantly wear maroon and orange tomorrow.
I wish the best for you and your fellow schoolmates.

His background is relevant...what's wrong with discussing it?

What I really want to know is when the victim list is coming out. That's more pressing to me than the killer's info.

The victim list will not come out until all families have been notified.

They are, at the moment, working on 2 victims at a time getting them identified, so it could be awhile.

Last count, and hopefully the last count is 33 dead including the gunman. 17 injured.

The whole situation is terribly depressing. That school and town are going to be hurting for a long time. My prayers to the families.

It appears to be a chinese national and not even a student. I wonder what the motivation was. Surely if killing was the only goal an ak-47 would have been more effective than 2 pistols.

I hope this doesn't sound too prickish of me, but I sincerely hope this doesn't become some media circus deal you know? What happened is a horrific tragedy and families are going to be suffering every day, every month, and every year because of this.

I just hope it doesn't become a circus opera where different media outlets look to point the finger at a band, a video game, a movie, or a form of literature.

My thoughts and condolences go out to the families and friends of who lost a loved one to senseless violence.

He had a rifle on him, from what I've heard, although I've not heard the type.

And for all those interested, here's the video caught on cell phone that words have been going around about:

http://www.break.com/index/virginia_tech_school_shooting.html

It's not graphic, but apparently the guy filming it was shot at. It's hard to decipher what exactly is going on in the video, so if anyone figures it out or knows otherwise, please let us know.

^Nope, I don't think it is.
It's very appropriate, because that's already happening.
