shooter on the va tech campus

No, they'll be just as tragic, if not moreso.

i don't know. i am expecting something close to another depression. money wise. i am waiting for that deficet to create high taxes and i am wiating for the fuel thing to become a problem. but i think when push comes to shove, there will be many ppl who can come up with ways to get out of it.

The head of campus police said they chose not to cancel classes and put the campus under heavy lockdown after the 7AM shooting because (and I heavily paraphrase) "we thought it was an isolated incident within that one building".

Someone's been shot and killed on your campus, you don't know where the gunman is, but classes go on as normal? The hell?

yeah, i am sure that the 2nd shooting could have been avoided. i don't understand what their "plan" was. ppl are going to get fired over this, for sure.

Damn...

This was one of the top schools I was going to apply to last year... But I opted not to at the very last second due to money.

That's pretty creepy considering the fact that my dad wanted to move to Colorado a short while before Columbine happened, but we wound up somewhere else.

Nonetheless, this is pathetic... School should be a place where we're safe, not gunned down.

My condolences to the families... This kind of thing is getting out of control...

R.I.P.

Can't say I'm shocked by all this, especially after Columbine. But, it does piss me off that it continues to happen! We need to find ways to prevent it without blaming video games and violent movies.

Exactly. Blaming movies and video games is just an easy way to give the blame out.

If the shooter is an international student, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a big backlash and fewer international students being allowed into the country.

^People need something to blame. Without it we don't know what to do for comfort.

im guessing it is an american. i would be 90% sure that it is an american.

That'd be too easy. People must be difficult these days.

It's getting a little old, though.

"Blame DOOM!"
"Blame Grand Theft Auto!"
"Blame Grand Theft Auto 3!"
"Blame Grand Theft Auto: Vice City!"
"Blame Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas!"
"Blame Halo 2!"
etc., etc.

Kinda ridiculous.

I'm hearing he was from China, came here through San Fran.
I'm also hearing he was going to Radford.
I wouldn't be surprised if alcohol was in his system as well.

It's not him. His livejournal confirms that he's still alive and that he's not the shooter.

He's also donating any money he gets to charities for it.

Yeah. The television stations already have a couple of pundents blaming various TV shows, games, etc. It's kind of sad really.

Blame those little 8-year-olds talking s*** on Halo 2 on Live. :o

I think they just mentioned that guy's facebook on Fox news.

I'm just waiting for those *******s to come out who are like, "Long Live *insert gunman's name here*!"

Much like many are doing for Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris now. I can't stand those kinds of kids.

Or the ones bent on that RPG based on Columbine. That was a twisted game [never played it, but I've seen a run-through].

I've studied school shootings in-depth for a long time now and still can't understand why anyone would idolize the shooters. Sympathy for them is understandable, as the ones I've reasearched have been pretty depressed individuals with serious social problems [predominantly outcasts, which I was all throughout school]. Nonetheless, what they did was a sick idea, and should never be glorified in any way.
