Comics Back in Black & Aunt May

I donno. I think it's part of his job to be generally stoked about any upcoming story lines Marvel is putting out.

Eh. I still think Quesada just wanted the marriage gone. I can't see why Marvel Inc would split up Mary Jane and Peter during a time where the Spider-Man movies were incredibly popular and incredibly focused on their love for one another. Doesn't seem like a sound idea.

But if Marvel Comics Inc., the controlling interests in Spider-Man, upon whom gets the benefits from the billion dollar industry that Spider-Man is... DIDN'T WANT a single Spider-Man, why would they allow JQ to proceed with OMD?

JQ works for them... not the other way around... in my opinion, JQ is just taking the bullet for everybody else.

Maybe Marvel Comics, Inc. only really cares about Spider-Man as a product and property and not the specifics of what goes in a comic book? While we as fans may look as ASM as the "official" history of the character, the company just looks as a character for merchandising and put out in a variety of media, as comics, books, movies, and animated TV, all which are separate continuities to the others.

Yes? But is it really a sound business idea to do that? Sure, the outcome came back good, but I'm still thinking that's because there's more product on the market is why the numbers are better.

It's not like a married Peter was detering them from telling the stories they've told thus far. His love life has barely even came into play. Plus, most little boys (the target audience for Spider-Man) really don't give two flying craps if Peter's married, single, gay, or a hermaphodite as long as he gets in to cool fights.

A drunken hook-up with Michelle and sleeping with the Black Cat, mask or no, would be a little tricky with a married Pete...

He was making out with some chick in the very first page of the first issue of BND.

Well to be fair he was making out with JJJ in the first page of the next issue. ;)But Pete shouldn't be going around having one night stands. Least not the Pete I know. :csad:

Granted. But my point was, that Pete making out with chicks is nothing new to BND.

In the first issue of BND, Pete doesn't want to kiss the girl... she's just all over him to get close to Harry and his money... he then reluctantly kisses Lilly during the big story in August of '08 whose name I suddenly forget... he gets "friendly" with the Black Cat a few times, which I'm assuming he's kissing her... but ya know what? HE'S SINGLE.... SO IT'S OK FOR PETER TO MAKE OUT WITH WHOMEVER HE WANTS.

:yay:

Yeah, of course and not reading Amazing these days I don't really know how his love life is being portrayed but Pete's not a ***** hound like Matt Murdock for example. It's kind of ok if they elude to him sleeping with someone like The Black Cat but even that I find is pushing it. Again, I'm not commenting on what's been done as I've only read the first couple of BND trades and I'm not coming from a Pete should only sleep with someone he's married to place either. (cause I mean really, that's just stoopid.) :cwink: I just think the way the character is he should be trying to make relationships work not going from girl to girl getting his kicks.
Plus I'd rather see him hook up with another super hero like Spider-Woman or even Carol Danvers would be cool.

I agree. Pete never really seemed like a guy who would sleep with someone unless he was really close to that woman. They are pushing Peter into all these scenarios. It's obviously forced, and pre-BND Peter wouldn't go along with it like this version is. Plus, what does this say about how Marvel views female characters? They all just flock towards Peter, nothing else to them.
