Apocalypse Should Ben Foster return as archangel?

I'd say no, save him for X-Force recasted as Ryan Gosling.

A roster of Gambit and Nightcrawler in their 20s, Wolverine, teenage Cyclops Storm and Phoenix along with a 40-something Beast is plenty big as is. Another team member would be overkill.

The way I'd handle him in X-Force is to contrast him with Cable. Both want revenge on Apocalypse for different reasons but they're perfect contrasts. Both are cyborgs but Cable is hot-headed while Archangel is brooding, Cable is a natural leader while Archangel is a freakish loner, Cable seeks to create a better future while Archangel dwells on his past and Cable is driven but Archangel is frequently needing motivation to push onwards.

Moreover, Psylocke's relationship with Warren is one where she has to get over her stuffiness and accept that Warren isn't just a whiner, he's genuinely traumatized and really needs help while Warren needs to accept the past and move on to the future and yes, he does have people who would care about him if he can finally get over his self-loathing. The two of them start off as rivals but eventually become lovers.

Then there's how Warren relates to Deadpool, with both of them being absolutely broken. The difference is how both of them are mentally ill but neither wants anything to do with the other due to their insanity. It's about the two of them realizing that they're actually mirror images of each other that gets them to finally open up to each other.

With Wadlow saying that he's choosing between Wolverine and Colossus making the cut, he's missing out on a really, really great character.

I really would of liked to have seen Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler and Ben Foster as Angel in the future scenes in DOFP instead and have them maybe replace Sunspot or Warpath.

I think they could have easily given Angel the tracker role that Warpath got and you could have said that Angel has strong eye sight because they gave Kitty a 2nd mutation, so why not Angel. Angel in Warpath's place would have been a vast improvement as, whilst not terribly effective at fighting Sentinels, he could have served as the lookout instead while looking much more visually impressive.

Regarding Nightcrawler though, you could argue that he wouldn’t have been anywhere near as exciting as Blink in those future scenes. The tactics and complexity she afforded to the team were something Nightcrawler just couldn't offer. Blink was one of the highlights of the future scenes, but it would have been nice to see Alan Cumming again considering this could be the last time we see the OT cast again, but Blink was a great replacement for the ’teleporter’ role.

That and Storm already flies and Cyclops shoots projectiles. Hence why I say to save Archangel for later, particularly X-Force. He'd just complicate things with too many characters. I mean, you have a lineup of Xavier, Cyclops, Magneto, Gambit, Phoenix, Storm, Wolverine, Beast and Nightcrawler. That's a perfect lineup as is. That plus Apocalypse as the villain and whatever side Mystique lands on creates a very full cast. We don't need more characters. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a baby Rogue or Iceman popping up.

We already know that we're getting Cable, Domino, Deadpool, Psylocke + one other in X-Force. Honestly, not every single X-Man get make it into Fox's films just like not every single Avenger can be in Disney's films. I for one really want to see Blade or Captain Marvel appear but I'm not holding my breath for it since Avengers 2 is already really crowded. Maybe as some random cameo but certainly not a major player.

If they brought back Ben Foster, I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more time travel, maybe even dimensional travel. I'm imagining Apocalypse ripping through time/other dimensions to find his Horsemen. Might be a cool way of working in some of the original actors without having to to do the whole dark future angle again.

I can just see Angel flying around in some utopian existence, then Apocalypse just appears outta nowhere and brings him back to this film's timeline/universe. I could certainly see that experience driving Warren nuts.

I'd also love to see Marsden come back as Cyclops, serving as another Horseman, with an intense face off between the younger and older versions of the character.

In all likelyhood if we see Angel/Archangel in future film It will be a recast.

I don't know. Since X3, Ben Foster continued to get high-profile movies and right now he's filming Warcraft which has the potential to perform well at the box-office. If they brought back Kelsey Grammer/Ellen Page, I don't see why they can't bring back Ben Foster for another OT cast film unless he's busy. Also with Ben Foster returning, they could redeem the Angel that we saw in X3.

I think Ben Foster was a decent choice for Angel, but looking at the material he was given in X3, he was indeed a wasted opportunity.

I agree with some people here: I'd prefer Ben Foster appear in another movie with the rest of the OT (if they should decide to make one).

Honestly, I thought the Angel we got in X3 was like a Victoria's Secret model who just walked and flew around a few times:

Foster had so little to do in X3 that we really didn't get to see what he might be able to offer, I'd be fine with him coming back for Apocalypse since everything now is a new timeline, I have no trouble pretending that the timeline shift made Warren Worthington have a child a few years earlier.
