Isn't the Allstar line basically the same thing?

Yes, but the thread starter didn't even know that existed until yesterday.

I hear there IS an Ultimate line at DC called All Star. Just FYI.

There is i've read all the issues for it...

it's really good also....

its already been pointed out several times, like I first did on the first page of this thread.....

:)

This poll is null and void because DC already has......

DC is already ultimate. They are better than Marvel. DC is a better company than Marvel. Marvel is worse than DC. DC pwns Marvel. Marvel is not as good as DC.

This is music to my ears...Sometimes it seems like I'm one of the only DC enthusiasts on the hype. I know it's not true, but it's good to hear reinforcing opinions similar to my own.

What the person who started this means, I think, is should DC start over with some characters (in a possible alternative timeline) like Marvel did?
Allstars is sort of an alternative timeline, it goes back to the first Robin. But its not really an Ultimate styled comic. Its more just a retelling of the story, and not a very good one.
But,
Should we start Superman over, have baby Kal-El land in Kansas? And redesign his costume?
Should we have Bruce Wayne watch his parent's deaths and watch him turn himself into Batman?
Should we see all DC's big characters start over and rewritten and redesigned to have a more modern feel like marvel did?

It might be interesting, they sort of already did that with Smallville.
I don't know.

It would just be a "rushed" and "washed-up" revamp anyway, so there's no point in doing it. Just look at Ultimate Spiderman. Sure it's one of, if not the most-praised Marvel book, but in only 100 issues they've already introduced nearly EVERY character, killed off **** ******, glazed over years worth of stories, and now they are already headed into "clone territory"...no thanks, I don't want to see DC characters rushed through their histories w/weaker retellings:(

No, I don't want Ultimate titles to be a part of the DCU. Keep the writers and the talent in the mainstream continuity instead of wasting them on something like this.

I will say, I'd probably much prefer an Ultimate line for the DCU than the current All-Star brand. At least the Ultimate line has it's own universe to define it. So far, All-Star seems like it'll be little more than a collection of crazy Elseworld stories. An extreme wate of talent, IMO.

Well, thats because it actually is. Say what you will about the Ultimate universe, but at least it has a couple of good stories under its belt. Even Morrison's ASS isn't up to par.

I really wish I could change my name now.
Speedball is the only character I like in Marvel really, because he is so underused and underappreciated. If I became a comic book writer, He would be the only character I would write for Marvel.

Soooooooo, you're trying to say that you would write an Ultimate Speedball for Marvel in an Ultimate DC thread? Or that the All Star line is as silly as a superball bouncing all over the place?

Yeah, I said I would write an Ultimate Speedball for Marvel in a DC thread.
And the All-star Batman is pretty silly, but Speedball's powers aren't silly really. Wouldn't you like to Jump really high and land on your feet without any pain?

I would love to have Speedball's powers considering all that he can do. I had the character for a while in the Marvel RPG. Just saw your post as coming out of the blue for this particular thread.

I actually have an idea for an ultimate Speedball. He's a Jock in high school, the same school that Spidey goes to actually. His mom lives in New York and his dad lives in Mass. He gets his powers from a museum he is working for (Security Guard, of course). He ends up reforming as a kid he tortures tries to kill himself, but is stopped by Robbie, and the two become best friends. he also works for Shield, after he accidently lands in the Triskellion while training with Spidey.

All-Star Superman is way better than any of Marvel's Ultimates.

burnt toast is better than all of the marvel titles... combined...

YA is pretty good. and that's about it, OH! and Ares is good as well.

I'm arguing with the whole idea of this. I don't think Marvel "owns" or "pwns" or whatever DC at all. In fact, I think that since summer 04, when the big events were Identity Crisis and Avengers Disassembled, that was the turning point (at least for me) . I loved IC and despised AD, and it went from there. Don't get me wrong, I still love Marvel books like Astonishing X-Men, Runaways, Ultimates, and Civil War, but I went a complete 180. BTW, read Checkmate. It rocks.

I was a huge Marvel guy, and now I'm full on DC. Look at the movies even: Since Spider-Man 2, Marvel has produced three major films that range from half-decent to disappointing (godawful if you count Man-Thing) : Blade 3, FF, X-Men 3. Meanwhile, DC knocked it out of the park with Batman Begins and Superman Returns.

Now, this is all IMO, but DC has been owning Marvel in comics (don't forget about Vertigo), film, and TV too! Between Smallville and Justice League, DC reigns on the small screen as well. Agree?

   , judging from the teaser of Spiderman 3, it has potential.

I fully agree.
I said the same thing a few post back. Identity Crisis was a far more superior story. You can actually feel sorry for the characters in the end.(I cried when Jack Drake died :(, did I cry when Hawkeye or Vision or Antman died, no because I knew they would come back sooner or later.)
What was the last Live action tv show marvel had?
What was the last cartoon marvel had?
What was the last good movie Marvel had?
I can't find the answer to any of these questions.

You are absolutely right. Infact, marvels stories were all great before the turn of the millenium(2000). Now Dc comics plots make marvels look like kiddie stuff. Especially with all the typos marvel makes in their comics. Did anyone notice Spiderman civil war#532 was titled "the war at home part1"
while #533 was titled "the war that came home part2". Funny, cause I thought a part 1 needs a part 2. and I thought a part2 needed a part 1.My typo sense is tingling:spidey:

Yeah, that was refering to the Golden age of comics, b/c Marvel wasn't even on the market till WWII. Even at most, it could also be refering to Silver Age comics. I've seen that History Channel special three times b/f, including again this weekend. You're creating "facts" that don't truly support what you are saying.

Omit that Ka-zar, Namor, and the Human Torch were all created before 1940.
