I love Ultimate Marvel but DC shouldn't try to ultimatize because I think they couldn't do it. They are so stuck to the way their characters are they couldn't it or go back to the basics without having a crisis to change everything back to the way it was before.
LOL, they're stuck on how their characters are? Funny, DC has always been known for it's legacy heroes while Marvel isn't. Going back to basics? The premise of the Ultimate line is not going back to basics, it's re-starting characters while making them concurrent with the times.
I get your sarcasm at DC's Crisis events but it's precisely those events that make DC more current than the competition. After the first Crisis, DC had the balls to re-start quite a few of their high profile characters while bringing them to a more modern setting
in continuity, not by making a separate line; sounds like ultimitazing, huh? The first Crisis wasn't about taking things to the way they were before, quite the opposite. Infinite Crisis, while having the purpose of bringing back DC to a lighter tone still steps forward by making other changes with the characters.
I suppose this is where you're gonna tell me that what you meant is that they would have a Crisis in their "Ultimate" line. I would agree with you, considering the Ultimate line at Marvel is rehashing old storylines from the regular Marvel line "with a fresh perspective" it wouldn't be out of line for DC to do the same, would it?
