Should Dr. Strange be depowered?

Gaiman writing Dr. Strange??? That would be SWEET!!! He did a spectacular job writing sandman and I loved American Gods, and I've read a few other things of his. If he could write anything for Marvel Strange would be right up his alley :D

Well, right now he's writing The Eternals for Marvel. It's pretty damn sweet. And yeah, Gaiman on Dr. Strange would be sweet. Maybe even a Gaiman penned Defenders book.

I actually had an idea for a Dr. Strange series that kind of ties in to the idea of this thread. Dr. Strange pisses off the Vishanti and is stripped of hiw power, being left as nothing more than a regular sorcerer. The power of the Vishanti the goes to Dr. Doom, who actually serves as sorcerer supreme quite well. Eventually, of course, Strange would regain the Vihsanti's favor, but the story would be of him trying to get back to where he once was.

I'm on the ropes. I think the someone in Strange's position should be that powerful, but it doesn't necessarily have to be strange. I'd have no problem with someone new taking over Strange's title, while Strange gets temporarily depowered to expand his character a little bit. Bring him more down to Earth so to speak. Then if the new SS doesn't work out you can simply do the normal way of the new guy going corrupt, and Strange kicking his ass to get his title back. I like Strange and his history, but a lot of newer readers could care less about him, and I wouldn't mind something to stir his story up a bit to bring newer readers to him to keep him going. Again just my opinion, and a stir up might tick off Hardcore Strange fans, and while I've read a decent amount of stories with him in it I'm not a hardcore Strange fan, so hardly speaking out of experience on what would be best.

When it comes to super-powered characters, de-powering them doesn't make them more interesting because it's not the use of their powers that make them interesting but the moral qualms they face when using their powers because of unforeseen consequences.

I always thought that since marvel's so fond of world spanning crossover storyarcs they should do one focused on Strange instead of some of the people who get tons of spotlight anyway.

Like Strange goes missing or becomes depowered or something and the world suddenly finds itself WITHOUT a sorcerer supreme. Give the readers a sense of the kind of difference that man actually makes all the damn time.

Suddenly you'd have interdimensional aliens and evil sorcerers all over the place and marvel's heroes completely unprepared to deal with it.

It'd be something to really delve into the magic side of the MU and something that would effect every single character on earth. Not a political thing in which people can be neutral or switching sides and such.

I came across a few Dr. Strange respect threads on different boards, reading the feats he has done and the opponents including Galactus he has gone toe to toe against and defeated. Isn't it kind of boring when with all the magic at his disposal calling the powers from different gods like Cytorrak he is near unbeatable? This isn't a knock against Strange. His history is an interesting one. I expect beings like TOAA or The Living Tribunal to be omnipotent but a mortal? Writers have decreased the power levels of the likes of Superman, Juggernaut, etc., why can't they do the same with Strange? Maybe I missed it and they already have. Just an opinion.

Are you f***ing crazy, they makea new Dr Strange series insted of changing his powers. Give a new comic.

I think it might be cool to start making Dr. Strenge Specter like. Start makiung him more powerful and make him start to loose his humanity.

He, over time, could be less human and more godlike. Maybe he would need to be around people to try and gain it back so he hangs out with Daredevil and Spider-Man and the Punisher, and Steve Rogers and Stark, and so on.

I'd like that.

Except, he does have human anchors. Wong and Clea.

If anyone's gonna be depowered it should be sentry. He'd pwn strange

Was Clea that girl from Dormammau's dimension or am I thinking of someone else?

Yes. But she's still an emotional anchor for him. Since they're, you know, engaging in sexual intercourse with one another. If you know what I mean. ;)

He used to a arrogant a**hole then he had the accident in which made him more human because then he choose to change.

No.Keep the depowering to Bendis`s utter crap circles.Dr.Strange is the top magical being in the Marvel Universe for a reason.

I just think it could be a cool story arc. He starts, maybe very slowly, gaining even more power. And then starts loosing his humanity and his connection to the human world. The conflict would be his trying not to loose it.
