Should I buy Avengers Disassembled?

why does everyone, when someone dies or "dies" (like in the last season of she-hulk) say "NOT LIKE THIS!!"? lol... she-hulk is funny...

Because Hawkeye should have simply just taken off his quiver maybe :o

lol, but seriously, who the hell says "NOT LIKE THIS!!"? i understand "NO!!!" or "OH, GOD NO!!!" or maybe even "WHY?!?" with an assload of crying, but "NOT LIKE THIS!!!"? WTF?

Anyone who speaks negative about it hasn't had a romantic relationship with a woman (or any other sex, including stuffed animals) and are just bitter about Bendis giving the Avengers a much needed shake up.

How about if the woman you had a romantic relationship with just liked to dress up in a teddy bear suit and maul you while you wore her crotchless panties? Does that still count?

I wouldn't. If you want some back story.. wait nevermind don't.

If you like New Avengers than I'm pretty sure you'll like Disassembled.

Though this was what started the Bendis hatred that you'll still see on these boards today.

I disagree. I like the New Avengers, but didn't like Disassembled. Just felt too hurried in closing for me. Read to understand how the setup was done leading into House of M, New Avengers etc., but not really essential to appreciate the Avengers.

The powering down phase of New Avengers gave people a chance to know these characters again. A back-to-basics approach I liked to make me appreciate the characters more.

That's cool. I was just generally speaking though. Most of the people who were enjoying New Avengers also had a lot of enjoyment out of Disassembled.

I liked Disassembled. That was also the first Avengers arc I ever bought, so I guess if I've read Avengers since it started than I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.

Just buy one issue if u like it then by the next one like the rest of us do...well the ones that can afford to buy any comic they want.

Oh wow. My first was the Busiek/Perez Avengers #1, stopped after issue 18 or something. What made me a fan of the Avengers really were the 80s issues: Namor, Captain Marvel, Fourth Masters of Evil era - but I don't own these.

Another question forwarded to y'all.

Tell me what's good and not.

Note I'm one of the ones who came on AFTER the New Avengers.

Well, getting back to you... what comics have you read/generally like? Did you start from watching a TV series?

Disassembled is a series for people who already know who the Avengers are and their history. You really have to know the Avengers to appreciate Disassembled.

If you're a person who wants to understand the current Marvel U - read New Avengers. The Key figures of Civil War are there. If you're really new, begin here. I personally reconnected to Marvel from New Avengers going into Civil War (was reading DC mainly). It's one of the best launch points you can begin from. From there, I branched out to reading Cap's Winter Soldier arc, Astonishing X-Men and the rest of Marvel's best stuff.

Go back and read Avengers Forever, Busiek and Perez's run on Avengers also...there is a way to do Avengers without crapping on what came before.
Many people hated Disassembled because it was a rush job. There was no thought or research put into it.

Why'd you stop at #18? That's some great stuff right there, and you stop just before Ultron Unlimited hits?

Yeah, I'm not even sure what number I stopped at or what story I stopped at (I only remember the first five issues with the Medieval Avengers battling Morgana). I vaguely remember what went on. I'd better look at my collection one of these days. I remember shifting allegiance to DC and the Morrison era JLA. Seriously didn't collect Marvel until Morrison had his New X-Men run.

On the contrary, by comic standards, Marvel comics has always been about a trillion times more grounded and consistent than DC or even shorter lived companies like Image.

Heh.

Hehe.

Hehehehehe....

And that it was a complete death fest and resulted in a very unnecessary cancelation of a book that was in the 500+ range.

maybe mighty avengers will take up the numbering again. anyway few books have their true numbering. i'd like to see how many issues caps been in (tho i know there was a thread somewhere dedicated to it)

IMO, the single best Avengers book you can buy is the Avengers Assemble hardcover vol 1. It contains the first 12 issues of the absolutely perfect Kurt Busiek/George Perez era on the title.

I disagree with that, I don't feel that we've really gotten to know these characters at all, and I still don't buy them as a group. The character driven subplots of previous eras were done MUCH better. Busiek never missed an issue where he didn't touch on something that was going on in each and every single character's personal lives for at least a moment in the middle of the ongoing stories.

looking at it, new avengers really does suck doesnt it.
i'm going to check out kurt busiek's run. a few of you seem to talk about it all glassy-eyed. i just wanted an essentials recommendation because theyre such great value and im poor :(
