Ok people. I was just offered to have a 360 bought for me. I said no thanks. I am a Sony guy, and I want to wait for the PS3. I want it because Sony always had a better game selection. I was told from somebody that the PS3 isn't what it seems, and it really can't do what it is said to do. "The processor and game engine isn't what it should be", "It burned out in a refridgerator because it couldn't do what it was supposed to do", etc. I am very impressed with the Xbox 360, and I really want it, but I want the PS3 more. I can wait for it, but..................

Ok, I need some opinions. In your opinion, should I get the Xbox 360 now, or wait for the PS3?

I'd get both if you can afford it. Get the 360 now and wait for the PS3 to drop to a sensible price.

You REALLY shouldn't pay any attention to such bogus talk. These comments seem to have come from either a fanboy or someone lacking the proper knowledge behind the console.

I'm not sure if you understand this, but $200+ for one console that's essentially the same thing, and $10+ for launch games that look mediocre in comparison to the X360's looks like ALOT of money to the average consumer.

We're not speaking about it from a fanboy "ZOMG I LOVE SONY@@" or "ZOMG X360 IS TEH R0XX0RZ!!11one" standpoint. It's being said from the standpoint of the average, casual gamer. Who WILL NOT buy something that is priced $200 over something that can perform equally as well. Most people are casual gamers, not hardcore fanboys.

Let's just say I have more than enough ready to slap down on this baby. However, I won't be purchasing one at launch due to defects usually occuring in launch shipments. So January seems to be my purchasing date.

I didn't know. I didn't buy the PS2 I have right now. Besides, it's just a price. Like someone else in this thread said, people will pay more for less. Guitars, surfboards, etc.

It's not a bargain. Due to Sony's need to try to take every angle at once, it will probably be mediocre at everything.

Sorry to say, but it will never, ever reach the point of being like a PC. If it does, it'll cost you the same as a PC, if not more.

Six years ago, the PS2 launched in Japan at damn near $400 to a $200 Dreamcast. Since inflation has gone up, 5 and $600 is about the same as it was back then.

The only problem I see here is it possibly having an affect on the casual market. They may very well be still living in the pass.
