we all know what xbox 360 did and how it went for them on launch. high demand, not alot of product. and now you can just walk into a store n get one.

well how will the nintendo wii and sony ps3 do.

consider

games
hype
power
availability

and decided when its all said n done, who has a chance of the best launch.

This is kind of a stupid topic seeing as we have no idea what games will actually launch with each system. If Wii isn't blowing smoke up our asses and offers 20 games at launch, coupled with their low price, then obviously they're going to have the best launch.

Wii: $200-$250 price tag, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, possibly Super Mario Galaxy.

The Xbox 360 had a rather mediocre launch and the Playstation 3 looks to do the same.

It's gonna be interesting. I'm wondering what PS3 will do to overcome the damage that they did to themselves at E3.

Microsoft didn't seem to be too concerned overall by their launch sales, as they didn't even put out the number of units that were originally anticipated. They seemed more concerned about putting their system out far ahead of the others... and now they're picking up with a nice looking line-up... but may be too late for some with a mediocre launch.

Wii is promising alot on launch, and I think they'll deliver. They also recognized that keeping up the momentum throughout their shelf-life is important... so next year will be just as good as this year for them. Besides, the price-tag will give them later shelf-life unit sales to people who bought either a 360 or PS3 on launch exclusively.

Put all those details aside, launch isn't everything. I think Wii will have a great launch, but it'll still be a battle for all the consoles during their life-span.

games - right now Nintendo is looking like the winner here, with great franchise games promised for launch. 360 had a pretty impressive launch lineup, but a lot of the better games weren't released until later. PS3 right now has a very unimpressive lineup, especially when you consider the $500 pricetag.

hype - 360 and PS3 will win this, 360 did a great job of getting everyone into a frenzy for launch day. Sony will look to do this too, price tag's gonna hurt it though. Don't look for the same amount of hype from Nintendo though, they haven't done it for the past two systems and I don't see them changing their ways with Wii.

power - PS3/360, with Nintendo trailing the pack, going for innovation over power.

availability - Nintendo will most not make a big deal about availability. We all know what 360's availability was like, look for the same from Sony to help drive hype and get consumers into a frenzy, so they have to get one at launch.

Overall, I think Nintendo should have the most impressive launch, but won't. Sony will use the tactics 360 and PS2 used to work everyone into a frenzy to get a system that will have a very weak launch lineup. Realistically, I see it being 360, PS3, Wii, while I think it should be Wii, 360, PS3

Wii will own, and I'm glad it will, Ninty deserve it. Same can't be said for over here in the UK though. There are too many idiots thinking the PS3 is the in thing to have... though I can't speak cause I'll be getting a PS3 first... and we all know why that is.

(Look at my avatar if you can't figure it out, dumbass)

Games
360 had a pretty weak launch. The only good games were Perfect Dark Zero, which didn't sell as well as anticipated, and Call of Duty 2.
PS3 has a pretty weak line-up so far, only MGS4 being the big one. It's still not enough to sell a $600 console.
Wii has a lot going for it. Twilight Princess looks awesome, Metroid Prime 3 looks to be very cool and very fun with the wiimote. Red Steel looks very cool and it's done by UbiSoft which is a plus. Super Mario Galaxy may be a launch title and looks to be very interesting. Brawl is coming out in after launch (Early 2007) and that looks to be amazing. Call of Duty 3 delivers on the 'WWII FPS' launch game nearly every system has had.

Hype
I recall a lot of hype for the 360, but none of it was delivered upon with a poor supply and weak launch.
PS3's price seemed to kill a lot of hype for the system.
Nintendo certainly has created even more hype after E3 with Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, and of course Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Power
This is where the 360 and PS3 clash and Wii takes a back seat. However, when has the most powerful console ever been the best selling of its generation?

Availability
360 had a horrible availability at launch due to an attempted worldwide launch (which was pointless considering North America is their biggest market).
Sony is trying to deliver the PS3 to all 3 markets (where they have much support in) within a weak. Considering how much the parts for the system are costing, they too will most likely suffer the way 360 did: not enough supply for the demand.
Nintendo is taking a safe route with Wii by producing a less powerful console. More units will be able to be produced. They too are going for a worldwide launch. They may not be a huge success, but they have a better chance than Sony and will most likely be more successful than Microsoft.

I think the Wii will also end up with the better launch. With as many games as they have mentioned to be available within a couple of months of launch, there would be no reason to not buy one, unless you just don't like Nintendo.

The price even makes it better. Plus Metroid, Zelda, and Mario...the trinity of monster gaming icons. Plus downloadable classics, plus backwards compatability. It's going to be a gamers dream. :)

I'm still uncertain what the general public will think of the Wii. That said, I think it will be a success. The virtual console alone instantly makes the Wii the best of the three of systems. I mean, more than 20 years of the greatest games ever played? That's too good to pass up.

Wii, It has an amazing line up...Nintendo will have learned from the foolishness that was 360's launch (I.E. wait til your supply can meet the demand). And most importantly...price. Practically everyone can afford it, which will be big during the Christmas season. Parents who can't afford 500 dollars on a system and games and what not can pick up a Wii and a couple games for 300.

Here's the thing about the "wait till you have the supply to meet your demand" idea: Even if Microsoft had waited until this year to launch, it would have been a similar, if not identical, launch because of the amount of money they were losing per system. It would have wrecked their fourth quarter, so they spread the hit out betwee Q405 and Q106.

i just like how a year ago 75% of the gaming world said that they wouldnt get the new nintendo home system. now about 90% of the gaming world cant wait to own one....

Haa, that is funny.

I remember hearing people say that after the Cube, Nintendo was going the way of Sega after the Dreamcast.

Nintendo has learned and is back for Blood (albight cencored blood...jk):)

PS3 it going to eventaully come out on top

but the launch will be simular to
the 360 cuz of the price

360 sold a lot of units at launch. The system was impossile to find in stores until like March the earliest. There was a huge demand for the system and people just kept buying them faster then Microsoft could make them. Sony could only hope for launch hype like 360.

What about PGR3, Condemned and Dead or Alive 4? All these three games got cumulative review scores of at least 8/10 I believe, which makes them pretty good. I know I didn't buy MY 360 just for PDZ and COD2. There were other games too, ya know.

The Xbox360 had a great launch, but that doesn't really matter anymore. How well you do at launch only matters for as long as you're launching, after that you're in different light.

If launch really mattered, we'd be playing Sega consoles right now.

Anyways, judging by E3, I think the 360 will have had the best launch. Not that the others have bad launches, but a good amount of PS3/Wii launch games are also releasing on the 360.

The 360 launch games that were on the PS2 and Gamecube were just poor games like GUN and Tony Hawk, nothing really "worthy".

I truly think the Wii will come out on top. If Nintendo advertises well and gets the message out to their target audience--the non-gamers who still watch primetime tv--then they will be successful. But software sells hardware, especially for an unique system such as Wii, so the launch line up has to excellent. A good touch would be a decent Madden 07.

Yeah, but nobody's talking about the games released on both systems. All the buzz is for the exclusive games on PS3 and Wii.

Oh yeah. A poor supply of consoles and 2 good games was a great launch:rolleyes:

7 out of the 20 announced Wii launch titles will be on multiple consoles. That's not a "good amount"

I was gonna vote wii but then i thought of playstations track record and they seem to have high demand for their systems on launch so i went for them.

But at the same time the wii will be almost half the price so that will def hurt the ps3 to some extent.
