Iron Man Should some inspiration be taking from the Ultimate version?

No offense, but I hope he stays far far....FAR away from anything Ultimate.

Seconded.

I hate everything about the Ultimate Universe.

Each to his own.

I would have said they could use the armor but now that we have Granov's much more real-world looking armor which looks more like classic IM, I have to say "No"!

I for one have a problem with a secret identity based purely on the shortlist of people who have access to iron man's technology behind them. first person i would point a finger at would be stark....

i think he should have at least a stark based team behind him helping him out etc....

Favreau did mention something about the "Ultimate Avengers" animated film. Which he thought was interesting.

SHH!: Where do the various Iron Man cartoons fit in with your plans? There were so many of them, it seems.

Favreau: Oh, you mean like… (starts singing) "Tony Stark makes you feel, he's the cool exec with the heart of steel… " I don't know. They did some interesting stuff in the "Ultimate Avengers" that's kind of cool to look at. I know they have a new animated straight-to-video thing coming out. It's all interesting and cool.

I do like how they captured Tony's personality in the Ultimates. There's a scene where he takes off in his Iron Man armor and Nick Fury notes how Tony has to wave at every girl before he does anything and Tony quips back, "Only the pretty ones..."

But yeah, while Ultimate Iron Man is fun, more fans will probably be drawn to the origional story with a bit of updating.

The Ultimate armor looks more real world looking than anything I've ever seen before. That's how the armor should look. As for character, I don't mind where they come from.

Same here.... for a while I figured the Ultimate design was the only armor that could really work in a movie, but Granov's stuff immediately changed my mind.

I like the way Ultimate Tony is portrayed, but that's really because he's basically the same kinda guy as 616 Tony.... no really major personality differences. But I think it goes without saying that the movie shouldn't adapt that whole "neural tissue distributed throughout his body" thing.... its just a liiiiiitttle bit out there when your already trying to get audiences to swallow a certain red and gold suit of high-tech armor, as is. :p

I just hope this red and gold suit of high-tech armor actually looks like it can do the things it is going to be doing in the movie. If it ends up he looks more like a red and gold knight in shining armor then I'll be pissed coz knights can’t fly and magic up laser beams from there hands (Not in the "Real" world).

Agreed, and that's one of the reasons I'm so glad that Granov's involved in the movie now.

What's great about Granov is the way he takes the armor's look back to its roots, back to the classic design.... but at the same time makes it look real. Like something actually built and put together, like something actually capable of all the high-tech feats Iron Man's famous for. And it does this without sacrifing the classic elements of the suit the way the Ultimate armor does.... it just refines them, and makes 'em just bulky enough to be believable without taking away mobility.

Though thinking about it, I actually would like to see something like the Ultimate look show up in this movie as a prototype or what-have-you(as well as an easter egg, but yeah....:o ;)). Something to show up as a "bullet", meaning that it's basically one step used to show Stark's eventual progress from his original gray, domeheaded armor to the final, streamlined Granov-inspired one.

I don't think that looks like it could actually fly, it works for a comic maybe but it can't/won't work on the Silver Screen. Bryan Hitch's Ultimate Iron Man looks much more real and would be much better at least for the first movie (if it's an origin)

yeah shouldn't they start with a bulkier costume in the first film and work towards a smaller one in the sequels, otherwise there is nothing to aim for via improvement etc...

The more I look at Iron Man the more it reminds me of Samus Aran. Shigeru Miyamoto must have looked at Iron Man as an influence for Samus' armour.

NO ultimates. I don't care if it looks like it could fly in the real world or not. I'm sick of this "real world" slant all these comic movies try to take. If I want real world I walk out my front door.

The Ultimate verson's idea where he gets his great intellegence from his body being his brain, is different, but the whole blue skin protector thing is visually too weird for me. I say go with the original Iron Man story, with little-if-not-none 21st ideas from ultimate line.

I just look at is Tony going through variations of armor to get his current design. Maybe we can have both in a gradual process throughout the film.

****, its a movie about a guy in ****ing armor flying around kicking ass, does it matter if his suit is realistic or not?

I love the ultimate armor. If it isn't used as the final design, I'd atleast like it to make an appearance as a step towards the final, like a few people have already said.

^I could live with that. Even in the Ultimates it's probably not the final design. He's basically still on design #1 or #2 in the ultimates.

The last issue of Ultimates showed that he has atleast 6 versions of the Iron Man armor at this point.
