Anyone think it could work now that Batman has literally "BEGUN"? The voice over doesn't have to be telling the story, but as events are unfolding or what Bruce is thinking about. I'm not talking about through the movie but more like book ends. The beginning and the conclusion.

yea only at the beginning of the movie, some of the best detective noir stories have them.

Exactly. (Largely that's drawn from detective novels often being written in first-person form, as though it was a casefile).

I could dig it.

I think people would think its too much like spiderman.

Yet you're not afraid people would think it was too much like the Maltese Falcon?

LOL. I'm not so old that I remember when it came out or anything. I just happen to have seen a few classics. And Bogart kicks ass.

You don't need to be an old timer to see movies like The Maltese Falcon, just someone who enjoys good cinema. :oldrazz: :word:

Amen and Hallelujah.

It's a good movie Explode7 you should see it.

No to the voiceover. It's cheesy.

"Who am I? You sure you want to know? The story of my life is not for the faint of heart. If somebody said it was a happy little tale... if somebody told you I was just your average ordinary rich guy, not a care in the world... somebody lied."

Nah.

goddamn right Bogart kicks ass.

Most comics have at least a panel or two of a narrative at teh begining, bringing the reader up to speed. Sometimes it's done first person, sometimes third person. Either wayas long as it is kept short, I'd be for it.
I could kinda see Bruce starting the narrative, then at the last line or last couple of words, kinda move into the Batman voice.

I'd rather have narration or a voice-over for The Joker explaining his backstory. While Batman is "The Great Detective" as Rahs Al-Ghul dubs him, I don't want him to begin the movie with a voice-over. It's been done WAY too much in comic-book movies. While it works on panel, I think the only way it'd work here is if Batman started to talk about "escalation" and how he and Gordon both predicted darker times were coming.

i say no to voice-overs, they don't always work too well i think and the last film worked great without one.

Voiceover from Alfred. Or someone other than Bruce.

Nevah! It's a Batman movie... you either have a voiceover by Bruce/Batman, or you decide not to have a voiceover. Both decisions are valid. But I think they are the only two options.

It's amazing... drop a name like Bogart and immediately you see who's cultured and who's not. ;)

Voice-over from the nice coat old dude.

sorry I needed to get that silly.

Why is it that I love to watch classic noir films, but I NEVER remember there being a v.o. narrative? I love seeing it in spoofs, but when it comes to the actual films, it seems to not register. Something's wrong with me. :(

Yeah, the only one I remember off-hand is Sunset Blvd., but then again I'm kinda new to the genre, so I have an excuse. :oldrazz:
