Should they cast Brandon Routh as Captain Marvel?

Since Routh seems out of Superman & he's probably still under contract to Warner Bros. Why don't they use him for Capt. Marvel.

actually its been stated he doesnt have any contract with WB at this time any more.

If there's even the faintest chance that another Superman movie could be made and he could be in it, I say definitely not.

That was going to happen either way. The Superman film franchise is on indefinite hold due to the legal issues associated with the charater. In 2013, the copyrights to the character as published in Action Comics #1 will go bact the Siegel and Shuster families and that could divide the charater as we know him unless the WB can somehow come up with a settlement that can merge the rights again. If that doesn't happen it could be very possible that we may not see another Superman film in our lifetimes or some other company (like Disney/Marvel) may get a portion of the rights. This issue was something that I have been bringing up constantly and a lot of fans have been in denial about it.

most believe in the end the families will probably make some sort of deal with WB/DC.

Disney, Marvel, or any other company will never go forward with a Superman movie. Even if 2013 roles around, WB/DC owns way too much of Superman for the Siegals/Shusters to be dumb enough to try and sell it off. Unless you want to see a Superman that doesn't fly and jumps around among other things. Not so Super.

Hahahahaha, it seems like only the OP voted "yes".
I mean, Routh has already played Superman, how could he be cast in the role of an other DC character? Besides, i dont think they re gonna be shooting a Captain Marvel movie anytime soon.
But while we re in the subject, i think that Hamm would be great as Cap.Marvel.

i have no interest seeing just the basic 30s version of superman, if i want to see superman i want to see the full deal.

As much as DC is afraid of confusing their audience, the whole Smallville and Superman Returns issue, this would completely contradict their beliefs.

But if they were to buy the rights to what the Siegel Family owns they could publish their version in another medium like a comic book or a newspaper strip. Remember Captain Mar-vel.

NO!! Cap deserves to be played by somebody much more talented.

But DC owns certain characters like Brainiac, and even the modern Superman logo.

If the family chooses to do indie, they may have to start all over again, and that would be a failure. Marvel is not gonna pay up for Superman, that's for sure. And then they would have to figure him and his world into the Marvel universe, and that's a pain. Plus, they have enough characters already.

You don't understand what I said. They would buy the rights to Superman (that DC doesn't own). Then they would publish their own version of the character (to maintain the rghts). That way, it would muck up any DC/WB attempts at restarting Superman. This is just like DC's Captain Marvel not being able to be featured in a comic of the same name.

DC has backup plans. They own the rights to Luthor, Brainiac, and all the villains. They own Supergirl. The current Superboy. And Steel.

Plus there's always this idea:

The Siegels may play hardball for awhile, but WB/DC can cut them the best deal and not undercut other deals they may consider. Not to mention, it's probably a legal nightmare to sort out the contracts of everything tied to Superman and DC owned trademarks. In the end, a sensible settlement is the best option for all parties.
