The recent FF2 teaser was used to showcase the sequels big attraction which is the Silver Surfer and the response has been mostly positive

Now in TDK despite the focus remaining Batman the Joker will be a huge and valuable marketing tool so should they get the audience hooked early by showing the most famous villain in comic history in the first teaser ?

I think they should,he won't be needing CGI work and what not so there should be at least one complete Joker scene that can be used in the teaser that will get TDK's buzz off on the right track,
I certainly wouldn't use an extended scene like they have with SS as joker is not a visually kinetic character that needs that extended treatment but one shot of him being sinister and menacing with perhaps a line of dialogue would do the trick IMO

Not in the first teaser in order to build up the suspense but it should included tell tale signs that leaves no doubt that he is the antagonist of this movie.

I don't think they should show a lot of him. A shot of Gordon looking worried, a shot of a pissed off looking Batman, in the background rising laughter. Black screen and then a quick shot of Joker stepping back into the shadows before the title comes.

I say nay! We are but men!...

I said no, because this is just a teaser. In my mind the teaser should: Show Bruce/Bats, Harvey Dent, Gordon, and some mobsters with grotesque grins on their faces.

Briefly. Just at the end, just show his smile under his hat...in the dark.

Yes.

Because it's the f'n Joker.

His cinematic return.

Plus it's the f'n Joker.

just like they did w/ the teaser for batman begins. w/ the sound of thunder and two very quick shots of batman and then the symbol.

Just like that w/ the joker i say w/ his hat down kinda like michael jackson style w/ him smiling in a dark way would be cool.

I would go with a quick glimpse. It would be a terrific hook for the average Joe audience plus, we'll finally know how he's going to look.

Let's not.

I think Joker should be handled like Venom in Spiderman 3 . . . if we see him at all, it should be brief in the first teaser . . .

No Joker in the teaser. Just have Batman say a line of dialogue that hints to the Joker's prescence in the movie and then BOOM.

THE DARK KNIGHT.

And the last thing we hear is the Joker's manic laughter in the backgroung...

I dunno...that seems a very predictable route to take. I'd like to be surprised. Just MHO of course.

I said no for the very first teaser - I would either have laughter in the background or like someone else said already, a huge smile underneath his hat.

Gordon could also have some dialogue talking about The Joker, that way the general audience will know that The Joker is indeed the main villain of the film.

Eh, I've given up trying to plan out marketing campaigns and such. I certainly wouldn't complain if he were in the teaser, and I definitely hope he's in one of the trailers...whichever it may be.

YES

Like somebody said, it's the *****ing joker. People aren't like us devouring every little bit of information. Some of them might not even know that the Joker is in The Dark Knight. Some might not know Ledger is playing him. I'm not saying the teaser should focus on Joker, but definetely show him.

Good idea. And his smile too.

no honestly we didn't see scarecrow to like the last bb trailer if I remember and that was great for me. I think It'd kill the hype. don't show him till the movie starts lol but It won't happen, they'll show him in a trailer

Yes. People should know who the villain is. Maybe not a full body shot, but definitely a glimpse at a shadowed face with his grin sticking it out, accompanied by maniacal laughter. Maybe they could show the ending of BB with the Joker card, then fade into a shot of the real Joker.

Plus it's The Joker. This movie should be marketed as Batman vs The Joker. That's what will draw people to this movie. That is the main attraction.

Just use the final scene of Batman Begins as the teaser trailer, but shot from different angles.
