Now I've been avoiding anything TDK for the last 2-3 months, I haven't seen any of the TV Spots or the most recent trailer and definiately avoided those 12 Spoiler clips. I've only seen Trailer 1 and 2 (and the International, which is basically them both combinded) because I don't want to spoil anything for myself.

I did the same the last few months with Iron Man, only watching the Teaser and nothing more -- and so that film was entirely fresh for me. I know alot of fans complaints about watching Iron Man was that "everything cool, they'd seen in the trailer" already and spoiled it for them.

I'm asking do you think the same has happened to TDK? Almost the entire of SHH is on the TDK Spoiler boards now (or has been at some point) trying to find and watch everything concerning TDK, but in 2 weeks do you think they're all going to turn round like idiots and cry because "they'd seen too much already"?

This is psuedo my rant against the Spoiler boards too. I just don't see how people can enjoy a film they've basically already seen through stills, leaks, and reviews. Whats the point?

i feel like ive seen too much(all these tv spots and clips)...but thats my own fault...lol

But thats at least you taking responsibility, knowing nobody forced you to watch those spots or clips. I think 90% of the board though are going to blame "WB" for "making us watch 2 much of da film" and it will reflect negatively on the fans critical reactions.

We have a concerns thread for this, and if you don't like spoilers, don't look at them..simple. The fact that some people enjoy it is unexplainable..I mean why do some people like beating animals? It's a ersonal thing no matter how odd it may seem. And being one of the ones who has seen just about everything so far, I can honestly say they have left the cool clips for the movie still. Everything we have seen so far has simply been a taste of things to come. Every clip, every trailer, every TV spot, they've all been obviously edited to just gve you an idea. The 12 clips spoil NOTHING you would't already know from reviews...maybe one small spoiler between a discussion between Alfred and Bruce, otherwise they're all just a taste of how the movie feels. Unlike Spider-man 3 and Iron Man, they've released near to nothing that's even touching the surface of how the story pans out. Yes there have been script leaks that have turned out to be accurate so far, and yes there are reviews that give away every detail imagineable...some people just don't care about knowing everything, in the theatre it's still different. I for one am staying away from cold hard spoilers. I have already ruined a bit for myself by accident when folloishly looking at " spoiler" tags thinking it was going to be small...then I see something pertaining to a plot device and I go all bleh. But, still, the film is going to deliver in my opinion. Another big difference is that Spider-man 3 and Iron Man were both " summer popcorn flicks" this one is not..that much I can tell by the trailers...this will induce as much thought as say Insomnia.

So to answer your question shortly, no I don't think we'll be crying about it, and I see nothing wrong with the spoiler section....just don't go in there. It's like someone complaining about a confessional in a Catholic Church..don't wanna confess? Then don't go to church.

Sorry to double post, in case I manage to with this, I agree with this statement. And sorry if I seemd harsh in my other post. I thought you were dissing the whole idea behind spoilers and the people who look at them. But, I do agree I hate the folks who always blame the companies..no one shoved a gun down their throat saying " you must see this if you plan on watching the film" . If we spoil it for ourselves, we did just that..spoiled it for OURSELVES. I know I did it for Spider-man 3 and I still kick myself.

I've watched all of the clips and TV spots so far and I won't be complaining coming out of the theatre.

From what I've been hearing in the reviews, there are at least two major sequences that have really not been shown in anything yet. It really hasn't shown a whole lot of Batman fighting and it's been confirmed from multiple reviews that he does quite a bit.

I think there is so much in this film that there is going to be a lot that we haven't seen yet(for those of us who have been watching everything).

Now, with this being said, I am cutting myself off since there's only two weeks to go. I have a feeling they will be showing even more new footage in the next week or two and frankly I think I've seen enough to keep me happy till the release.

im there with you, ive watched half of those clips though and all the tv spots except for the new 4... which i started to watch, ben when i saw any interrogation room i stopped... sadly i watched even too much of that tv spot before i culd stop... but

when it comes down to this.. you take these 2 weeks off... all im doing is listening to the Begins soundtrack and TDK soundtrack (somehow*cough*) and just sittin back watching it go by and taking it in.. its the final stretch...

a good way to help you forget spoilers and stuff, is to think about things you DONT know of... and make new scenarios up that you think will happen like i did ... im wondering if rachel dies, and i think to myself, yes she does, and batman goes out of his mind.. but then i think, or is it harvey that makes bruce act this way? what exactly is the fate of rachel? ...try and make conclusions.. fake conclusions to what you already know and possibly dont know. ya know what I mean? haha. Get confused. think about the order of scenes wrong and think about all the stuff you know about and how much you really havnt seen yet.

there is gonna be alot though, think about hong kong, think about WHY he does this? do you really know? or why he wans the new suit, all teh trials he has to go thru with that... and all the fighting, think about how it COULD end. heh...

i dont know im juts rambeling on, it helps me personally to type this stuff because i really think about all that is going on in this movie and think wow,,, there is so much, its nearly 3 hours, and we've only seen what, 30-45 minutes total in previews.. if that. so there alot to be seen yet...

There does feel like there is a ton of footage out there for this movie. Between the prologue, the commercials, trailiers and IESB clips (not sure how long each clip is) it almost seems like there is 20 - 25 min worth of TDK you can already watch. I've only watched the commercials and trailers. I'm kind of regretting watching the latest commercials (12 - 15) because they showed some kick ass stuff that I wanted to be surprised with. However, I figure since they are commercials there is a good chance I could be watching tv and they will air and it's not like I would turn away from them. So thats my rationale for continuing to watch any new commercials that may pop up online.

I agree, there is an awful lot of stuff to watch. I'm having to avoid certain things.

However, think about the last time you "spoiled a movie" for yourself. Was that because they showed too much footage or because the movie simply wasn't very strong?

Usually when people complain about the trailer "showing too much", the movie simply isn't that great anyway.

All the footage did not spoil anything for me. The spoilerific filled two-face thread and interviews (especially those chuckthemovieguy interviews) messed up part of it, but it will still be a fresh film for me since there is about 2 hours+ of footage I have not seen yet.

I kinda have the same feeling, but it's so damm hard to not watch the footage because of the exitement. I haven't read any reviews that give the story away, because this time unlike BB i want to be surprised.

well lets see...

Iron man for instance.

they really showed alot, all they really could. and i really knew alot about it, i knew about the avengers thing and all that.. but overall, when i went to see the movie... it felt brand new becasue i was seeing it as a whole, there were times when i felt liek i was watchign the tv spots and trailers all over again, especially in the beggining, but it was still fresh for me.

Same with the incredible hulk.. they even showed the cameo of tony stak in a TV spot... and i knew everything about it, as hulk isnt one of my most favorites, i didnt mind knowing... but i was still suprised at alot of it and very satisfied with my movie experience.

and those movies were about 2 hours. now add another half hour... the fact that its the JOKER and BATMAN squaring off.. and the replayability alone in that... you know you guys loop the clips and tv spots because you just cant get over how cool this all is... how awesome heath is as the joker... and seeing it as a whole on teh screen will be fascinating no matter how much you have seen!

ESPECIALLY for those of you going to IMAX... that will be a different world. Considering the scenes shot in imax specifically... Oh and the fact that there are alot of alternate scenes... and alternate dialouge just with the joker alone from various trailers and tv spots... you still have that sense of wonder.. with what you DID see... you wonder.. what will ACTUALLY show up on screen and what the filmmakers chose to put on the final film... so tehres still THAT.

and i think back on batman begins and how much i personally knew, i though ti kknew it all too, i was gloomy and sad going in that i was too spoiled, with the ras twist and various other things... but it still was an unforgettable movie experience... Its batman, you cant go wrong.

Hey I didn't say I didn't enjoy, the movie was the best experience I've had at the movies.:woot:

I too have been feeling like I've seen too much, but I've avoided the TV spots and hadn't watched anything TDK in the last week or so (watched the trailer last night before bed). However, I stumbled upon the Wizard World 2007 footage today and saw about 15 seconds of it, and it was more or less an extension of the trailer footage, but it had a newness to it. I do NOT recommend checking this footage out, it fleshes out some of the sound bytes we've heard and is spoiler'ish, even though I had already read last summer what the clip was of.

Then the guys over at Film School Rejects said this, which is kind of reassuring:
But before we get to the fun stuff of the day, I would like to make a comment about a lot of the video clips that have emerged online. I am generally a supporter of the “less is more” theory on seeing video from a film before it hits theaters. In fact, I believe that my experience with Iron Man was soiled to a certain extent due to over-exposure. The Dark Knight however, seems to be a different beast altogether. Having seen the movie and all of the clips online, I can assure you that even if you’ve seen everything available so far, you ain’t seen nothing yet. There is so much to this film that has not been released that the chances over becoming over-saturated with promotional fodder are slim to none.
So, from here on out (as I had done for the past week or so, just needed a small fix of the trailer that I had already seen tons of times) I'm hoping to avoid anything for this movie.

Oh yeah, one thing I find that helps even though I've slipped up by not logging in all the time, but disabling avatars, images, and signatures here (people quote this movie like crazy, be warned!) has worked alright.

I don't think it's nearly that much. Many of the TV spots and trailers repeat footage. I'd say it's about 15 minutes tops. I haven't seen the IESB clips, but I believe all of the clips are about 30 seconds long.

I agree that some of the more recent TV spots spoil some awesomely badass moments that would have been amazing seeing first in the theater, but I don't mind all that much. I'm always so focused on images, that I never get sick of seeing something that's really cool.

I dunno, for me, watching a movie isn't about seeing what happens, or else why would you get a DVD to watch something again? It's about seeing how the story unfolds, and how the filmmakers use visuals to construct it. That's why I typically have no issues reading spoilers. When people ask me how a film is though, I don't tell them any plot points because I understand that most people don't feel the same way I do.

I resisted seeing the IESB clips though, but that's because I know Nolan's work comes across better as a whole, not cut up into tiny pieces. But again, that's a personal thing.

This subject comes up around the exact same time for every one of these big blockbuster films. And I'll say the same thing I always say: when you combine all of the trailers, footage, TV spots, and clips, we've probably seen a grand total of 20 minutes from the film.

That's 20 scattered minutes out of a 160 minute film. Now decide if you've seen too much.

**Brushes self off from previous bann-ishment**

Well, no matter how many clips you have seen, watching the final product on the Imax will still be a whole new expeirence. I really don't think too many people will complain. And if there are complainers, it will only be a very small amount.

I think everyone feels that they have seen or heard too much already. Even if all they have seen is the teaser. This movie is so big and everyone has been waiting for it. Ever since we all heard Heath's voice last July we've been wanting to see more and more, but when they give us too much then we complain. The fact is, the reason we complain is because we all want that moment, when we sit in that theater, to be perfect. Its like when you get something new and everything has to be perfect before you test it out. But we all kno, no matter how much we see, no matter how much we hear, we are not gonna walk out of that theater unsatisfied. Now i didnt watch the 12 clips, and i wont, but ive seen the trailers, the gotham tonights, the TV spots, etc. And ive thought that maybe ive seen too much. I get to the point where i want to cry because i think i just ruined the 2 and a half hour movie for watching a 25 second TV spot. But who out there is not gonna go on JULY 18th because of a viral marketing campaign that went about 3 months longer that it should have? NO ONE! We will all be there to see Heath Ledger's final COMPLETED work. Which will no doubt go down in history as his best.

So in his honor and your own, since you've been counting the seconds til TDK opens, enjoy the movie at all cost. You will see the joker plenty of times during the movie, not all of his scenes are showed in the trailer and TV spots! Dont worry. This movie will surpass our expectations.

See you guys on the 18th.

I'm actually rather :waa: that the viral campaign is ending soon. What will I do with my free time now?!

well think about it, in about 2 weeks you'll spend your time following the viral campaign for the 3rd movie. lol

And watching all these SPOILER clips and TV spots in loop :cwink: I know that's MY plan.

The only clip that i felt spoiled anything for me was tv spot 12

everything else has been random lines by the Joker and we still havent gotten some of his best stuff
