What gives them the right to go out and do this on their own?
Why on earth should they not have the right?
Why should we not have the right to dress any way we please? And why should we not have the right, while dressed that way, to approach a fight or someone breaking the law, and try to stop it?
We live in a world where more and more often, the police just don't handle situations, or even respond in some cases.
In my town in England, a group of religious people have started coming out on a saturday night outside of clubs, armed with flip flops, bottles of water and aiming to talk to people that need help.
It's dangerous, it opens them up to a lot of ridicule and abuse. But as anti religion as I am, I'm always happy to see anyone trying to improve society, improve the world around them.
Anyone who can condem someone as selfish for dressing up and trying to stop crimes is missing the point entirely.
It's your average joe (me included) who do nothing. We're the selfish ones. We're too ashamed, self conscious, would think it was silly. We see the world's problems and think it's awful, but don't see it as 'our problem' because how could little old me possibly make a difference.
Well here we have a bunch of people who think maybe they CAN make a difference, and so that's what they are trying to do.
That's wonderful!
