Siege

People buying Ultimate comics makes me cry, but to each his own.

Well it is pretty sad what Marvel has done to it, but atleast Millar still knows how to provide a kickass action story. Tho all of his stories seem to have a recurring theme of a rebel. Thor and Hulk we're rebels and now it's Captain America's turn. >_>

Dude, Hank Pym is not a wife beater. He hit his wife once while in the middle of a nervous breakdown and has spent most of his life trying to live down the guilt from it. Sort of like Spider-Man, but who never went through all the grief for it.

Ummm...didn't he put her in the hospital? And we are still talking Ultimate Hank right?

616.

oops. I see I missed his parenthesis.

My bad.

Oh well. +1 to post count. :csad:

Ultimate Hank Pym is a wifebeating *****ebag. The mainstream Hank Pym is a world-class scientist with some neuroses who hit his wife once during a full-scale nervous breakdown and has spent the rest of his life since then trying to live down the guilt from it, even though said wife eventually forgave him and they even got back together romantically.

Yeah, I was kinda shocked on how far marvel took the Ultimate Hank Pym and very pleased when Captian kicked his ass and he died in the comic.

I agree 100% with the summary of non-ultimate Hank Pym and missed him in the comics when no one was writing him...I think it was late 80's or early 90's. My memory is crap and I'm too lazy to drag out my back issues.

Well it's good to hear the mainstream Pym isn't that bad.

Well i'll see how my comic budget is after Siege. I still need to check out those Thor comics and stuff first tho! :awesome:

I haven't since the end of The Ultimates vol. 1. But Hank's wifebeating is contained in The Ultimates vol. 1, so I was indeed exposed to it. It was part of why I ditched the Ultimate universe altogether.

But Ultimates 2 has Thor's army coming from a rainbow bridge. >: (

Ultimate Thor is a pale imitation of the real deal. I actively dislike reading about him because I can't help comparing him to the main Thor, and he inevitably comes up short.

Any version in the Ultimate Universe is gonna come up short to 616 universe. I can't think of one character that's BETTER in the Ultimate Universe than their 616 counterpart.

I agree, but I'm sure others can think of plenty. I've seen people say they prefer Ultimate Captain America because 616 Cap is too soft.

I know it's early to say but i really like how Ultimate Red Skull is. In the mainstream one he's like... Used to be a normal guy with a mask, then inhabited a clone of captain america? Now inhabits a robot and wants to take over captain's body? Yeah.... Maybe i'm just too used to think Red Skull as a nazi and not some guy who swaps his spirit over bodies. >_>

What's Ultimate Red Skull's deal?

616 Skull's body-swapping has gotten a bit ridiculous, but he's still awesome. He had to find some way to survive into the present, after all.

He's Cap's son and ripped his face off because he looked like his father. That's what I read on these boards at least.

Seeing him hunt down and then beat the crap out of Pym was pretty cool but i still prefer the 616 universe to the ultimate one.

Its amazing how Thor, Captain America and Ironman are easily marvel's most popular heroes these days when 5 years ago it most certainly wasn't the case. I think its a testament to marvel's marketing scheme as to how they were able to build the hype for these characters. Say what you will about Bendis but i think his breaking of the Avengers did Thor, Cap and Ironman alot of good because 5 years ago i doubt very many would've cared so much about a reunion between these guys but now its like the coming of the messiah.

Well said, I totally agree.

I also really enjoy Dark Avengers, but I don't mind that it's probably ending. That concept has been done before w/The Thunderbolts.

What's Ultimate Red Skull's deal?

He's an American Neo-Nazi who happens to be Captain America's Bastard son. Capt had sex with his girlfriend the night before he left and when he was presumed dead. The goverment wanted to keep the baby a secret, they lied to the mother about giving the son to a american family and Red Skull ended up being a labrat for 17 years. Once he was 17 he escaped the facility and carved his face's skin off.

Nowdays he's an freelance assassin and the Super Soldier Serum is like "perfect" in his body. He's tougher then Captain America and while he is 60 years old. He's at the perfect shape.

Right now Red Skull stole FF's Mr. Fantastic guy's latest invention (we don't know what it is) and Millar promised that we get to see Red Skull, Kang the conqueror and Dr. Doom together. =D
