Who's that in the bottom picture? Obviously Scarlet Witch, Thanos, Mephisto, Odin(?) - but who's the dude in white, and the two under Odin? And is Norman tossing the Sentry belt clasp thing?

Dude in white = Beyonder
Dude under Odin = Molecule Man
Dude under Molecule Man = X-Man

I don't know what that is that Norman's throwing. I don't recall the Sentry having a small circular belt clasp...

I think this is supposed to be the Void. Note the imagery of having the Sentry cast into an all-black silhouette.

hmmm interesting if you look close enough you can see the yellow and blue on him

Who is Molecule Man, exactly? Can't say I've heard of him, but he showed up in the preview for an upcoming Dark Avengers issue too. And I recall a cryptic message from Rich Johnston's Bleeding Cool blog... [BLACKOUT]regarding the identity of Osborn's secret weapon. He said it wasn't Mephisto, and we should be thinking of MM rather than M. I assumed he was referring to MarvelMan, but now that Molecule Man is on this teaser...[/BLACKOUT]

The Molecule Man is Owen Reese, a guy who gained the ability to rearrange matter on a molecular level. He was a meek, shy loser, though, so he barely used his abilities to their full potential. For an idea of how powerful he could be if he weren't such a loser, though: he literally pulled Thor's hammer, the Silver Surfer's board, and (I think, but I may be misremembering this one) Captain America's shield apart molecule-by-molecule with a wave of his hand.

Wouldn't be the first time we've simply seen a silhouette of a hero to get fans guessing about their identity, though. It's an age-old trick.

They probably don't know what it is either, since that's just a reused cover from Dark X-Men and they just covered up the "X" logo...

I knew it looked familiar. Maybe he's skipping really expensive silver and gold pebbles.

Personally, I think having Osborn's "secret weapon" turn out to be Mephisto would not only make sense in light of One More Day (being that Osborn IS Spider-Man's arch-enemy) but you could easily tie him into everything else that's happened in the Marvel Universe over the past several years.

For instance, what caused the Scarlet Witch to go insane in the first place? The loss of her children, who were actually constructs created from essence of Mephisto, and apparently, she's been systemically loosing her sanity ever since right up to Avengers Disassembled, which of course led to House of M and Decimation, which probably altered reality enough for Mephisto to worm his way in.

And remember Civil War and how there was a theory going around that Miriam Sharpe was actually Mephisto in disguise, due to her dead child being called "Damien?" Well, what if that were actually the case, and Mephisto was the one who was manipulating Tony Stark which of course lead to the fraction in the superhero community?

It would also explain how someone like Osborn would benefit from the situation. Perhaps Mephisto offered to make him the most powerful and influential person in the world, and Norman agreed--in exchange defeating Spider-Man. Of course, Norman wouldn't realize that the nature of Spider-Man's defeat was emotional given that it wiped out his marriage to Mary Jane, but it was a "defeat" nevertheless. Now, perhaps, with the Siege, it all ends up backfiring on Norman, because it's all been a ploy by Mephisto who has been in league with Loki all along--who if you notice in the Dark Reign one-shot, didn't look phased by Norman's "trump card" at all.

At least, that's a working theory. But then again, it's probably Molecule Man.

The thought of Osborn having any kind of power over Mephisto makes me almost as ill as the thought of his having any power over Odin. Manipulating your way into a politically powerful position is one thing. Holding sway over guys who can get away with punching Galactus in the face is quite another, and Osborn's way too small-time for that.

Yeah but does being his secret weapon automatically make you his flunkie? Osborn is exactly the guy that would make a deal with the devil to get where he is. It doesn't necessarily make him Mephisto's boss. When you make a deal with the devil you get F'ed in the end, and I'm sure Osborn will.

I remain skeptical, but I suppose that could be a possible loophole. Then again, Spider-Man made a deal with the devil and his life is just fine.

LOL, yeah he went from banging a smoking hot redhead to waking up in his Aunt's attic with morning wood....just fine alright!;)

Unless part of Mephistos deal with Spidey was that Osbourne becomes in the position he's in.

It wouldn't, it would be a secret part of the contract. He's the ****ing devil afterall.

Oh ok, I thought you meant Spidey having that put in the deal. Mephisto sneaking that one in there makes sense.

So Mephisto got two deals out of the same action? Norman gaining power as the catch in Spider-Man's deal and Norman gaining power as the boon in Norman's deal?

I could totally see Mephisto making sort of deal with Norman for his soul, or more, whatever it might be.

anyone else hate the name of this event? Siege just sounds so underwhelming, especially coming after Dark Reign, Secret Invasion, Civl War, House of M, Avengers Disassembled...

It's short for Siege of Asgard, a big check mark for Osborn to knock off his list.

I don't know why they didn't call it Siege of Asgard. Probably thought the name would scare off those who like their grim-n'-gritty stuff.
