Siege

I'm thinking in Ares' mind that only counts for Olympian gods, but Osborn and Hera have a little pact so I could see Ares thinking he's done right by the Olympians and **** everyone else.

Oh, Ares would totally take Asgard down. The Olympians are a trickier proposition, but he'd happily murder every Asgardian he could get his hands on just for the aggravation Thor has caused him, if nothing else. :hehe:

Yeah, but isn't Ares still kinda pissed at the Olympians?

For what? He was pissed at Zeus for exiling him--Zeus got killed. He was pissed at Hercules, and he'll try to kill Herc again at some point, I'm sure. Other than that, he was only mildly pissed that the rest of the Olympians didn't stand up for him against Zeus. Hera's allies with stormin' Norman and she offered him an olive branch in the first issue of Dark Avengers: Ares, too, so they may reconcile pretty soon.

id like to see a good battle of the gods, thor, herc, ares, and loki.

I'm really hoping that they kill off Norman in Siege. Not because that there's no turning back like Ultimate Dr. Doom, Ultimate Magneto, and the Joker, but simply because I think that he won't be used good after Siege. Dark Reign was the high point in Osborn's post-resurrection career IMO where most people stopped wishing that he was never resurrected to begin with. I just don't think you can top that and it'll go down hill for his character from there.

Oh please, he'd just be back in a few years (at the most) anyway.

The sad truth. How about these options?:
A) In SHIELD top Prison. Have Maria Hill laugh her ass off infront of him.
B) He tries to escape but Molecule-Man or whoever wants to toy with Norman takes him for torture fun.
C) Something else. :P

If not a bit more respected Green Goblin within the Super villain community.

Killing characters off for good isn't a solution in a medium of stories that never end.

Or a bit more hated. All the other villains he's stacked the Initiative and such with fall when he does. I can see a lot of dudes showing up like, "Hey, Osborn, this is for screwing up your big scam. I did 6 months in Ryker's thanks to you before I busted out!"

Quite the opposite, I think Dark Reign has marked the elevation of Norman Osborn into Marvel's villainous A-list. Even as the arch nemesis of Marvel's flagship hero, the Green Goblin was something of a non-entity in the wider Marvel Universe. Not the case anymore.

I don't see Osborn being killed off at the end of Siege, but I do think him becoming Green Goblin once more is likely. Which is kinda a shame, really, because I almost think he's a better villain as Osborn than he is as the Goblin. That said, Ellis did a good job writing him as Green Goblin at the end of his Thunderbolts run.

I agree, going back to being the Green Goblin would almost seem like a demotion. Even if he does go back as the Green Goblin, I just can't seem him working on a small scale anymore. Even if he's been written as a Lex Luthor clone with mental illness, I still think he's been handled well for the most part.

Ellis' Thunderbolts run was probably some of Marvel's best work in the past few years. I wish I could say the same about the current writers/ direction.

I actually like the way they (Ellis and Bendis) write Norman. He seems more like the Osborn pre-ressurection. The GG personality is something separate from Norman's normal personality (which is also pretty evil). When they brought him back, they pretty much made him a Lex Luthor wannabe who seemed to alway be in control of his sanity.

So yeah, I expect him to go back to being GG, not because its a demotion, but because his bat**** crazy and cant keep that Goblin side of him in check.

In any case, I hope he's out of the limelight for awhile before they bring him back after this Dark Reign stuff.

Also, why doesn't anyone like Gargan Venom? I mean, if Venom was anywhere near being a good villain before Gargan took over, I could understand, but that wasn't the case, was it?:o

Eddie was more of an anti hero. Usually did the right thing unless Spidey was involved. Gargan is a better villain venom but Eddie was what Venom was originally supposed to be: A darker spidey.

My main problem with Gargan Venom is that it deprives us of Gargan Scorpion, who was long one of my favourite Spidey villains.

Although Gargan has much more reason to hate Spiderman that Brock does.
