Cap's team doesn't have many heavy hitters does it? Thor's banged up, then the closest you have after that is Ms. Marvel and Spider-Man. The Sentry's gonna be a handful.
I bet they get Emma Frost to shut him downThey are lacking in raw firepower, but they have two of the best tacticians on the planet (Steve and Fury) and once Stark is able he'll add brains and firepower.

An accurate assessment. As much as it galls me as a Thor fan to see Thor get taken down within a page, the fight in Siege #1 was fine. Anyone can be overwhelmed, even someone as powerful as Thor, and it's not like Osborn put street-level crooks with capguns up against Thor; he specifically called for class 50 powerhouses, minimum.
I know it won't happen because the Sentry is the current "supreme powerhouse" bogeyman of the Marvel universe, but it'd be really, really satisfying to see Thor kick his ass. Have Thor strap on the belt of strength or whip out a godblast, even, but the visual of Thor taking the Sentry down after all this would really make my day.

Pluto definitely could. Zeus probably could at the height of his power, but I'm not sure about that now that Zeus is a kid who's mostly forgotten who he was.Same here.
And in regard to Ares; Isn't it true that Zeus, or Pluto can resurrect him? I seem to remember reading about that ability the upper-level Greek Gods have in one of the Marvel Handbooks...

Guess you'll have to send in Spider-Man to take down Sentry. He took down Firelord!
Seriously, if they are going to take down Sentry, they have attack his psyche. That is his weak point. You have to make him run away and cry again. That is unless Osborn's serum he's giving Sentry helps prevent this, keeping Void more front and center.
Not Sentry-level power, though. The Sentry would knock him around pretty easily.
Anyone have the cover of Siege #4?
No doubt. My point is that over the years Spidey's been seen to display a great amount of power. Can he kick Sentry's ass? No of course not. But when in a blind rage he can smack down Firelord. Readers might underestimate him since he's mostly seen fighting street level villains, so he pulls his punches to avoid killing someone. Slott touched on this in the recent issue of ASM.
I actually cheered when i saw that last page.
Oh, no, no, no, no. When a writter pulls a bulls**t story out of his ass, Spidey can smack down Firelord.

No way was that a bulls**t story, it was a classic. And back during that time, Tom DeFalco was hardly a writer that pulled things out of his ass. That fight proved that Spidey can beat guys outside of his normal range because of his immense heroic spirit (another example would be Juggernaut), and the power to back it up.
I'm gonna have to agree with Mr. Nubsies P. Nubsly, Esq. on this one. Spidey beating Firelord was only classic in the sense that it's one of the most glaring examples of writer bulls***.Him beating Juggy? That was okay. He didn't beat his head in, he out smarted him. that's how he should win a fight with people waaaayyyy stronger than he is. Spidey beating Firelord? Spidey out maneuvering Firelord in and of itself is bulls**t, much less knocking him out with his bare fists. Come on man, that whole thing was Black Panther Cosmic Arm bar territory. Even the best of them can make some dumbass decisions. I site Priest having Thor get shot in the head with a high powered rifle and being knocked unconscious for ten minutes.
That's an interesting idea. I guess the easiest way to defeat Sentry would be to have Cloak standing ready, Thor swats Sentry and Cloak catches him. Game over.
