Nice, but we are human beings, and it is natural to scrutinize something ahead of time, especially something most of us hold dear, and that's the FF. At least I do. This is not just another comic book to movie franchise to me. This was a very real part of my childhood.

I too agree with Jones but i must say that it's difficult for people not to be prejudgemental after the somewhat lackluster first movie.

Also, just a few weeks ago Spider-Man 3 was been hyped up as the be all and end all of superhero movies and look what some of those same people are saying now.It's very hard in general for people to remain objective with all the info that's available before movies are released.

You should post this in the Superman Returns Suit thread.Before we even got a trailer for that movie people were dissecting every thing right down to the hairs and pours in Brandon Routh's face.

no disrespect to Doug Jones, but I think Fishburn would have made an excellent surfur, not just because he's bald either.

I honestly hope that if they show Norrin Radd, it is Fishburn and not Jones. And please don't tell me "he's black and Norrin Radd was white". Norrin Radd wouldn't have been "white" because he's not from Earth.

Besides, people have accepted Kerry Washington as Alicia, and Michael Clark Duncan did a great job as Kingpin.

I'm sure Surfur will be great, but like Andy Sirkis and Gollum, I think you have a better performance when the actor doing the voice is more involved with the character.

Umm...no. It has nothing to do with him being black, it has to do with staying true to the Surfer's cut and slim physique. If you scour the world you'd probably find a better person than Jones, but Fishburne certainly doesn't fit the imagery of the Surfer. I'm not saying that he couldn't have been, but now that we see a close adaption can be done why screw around with "what-if"?

Tony, until about two weeks ago, the actor doing the voice WAS the actor playing the Surfer! This Fishburn thing is total 11th hour casting, for the longest time there was serious consideration of using Doug's voice. If what we heard in the trailer is Fishburn, there is very little differece between that voice and what Doug was doing on set.

Because Doug Jones is the best at what he does...they have stepped it up in this movie, apparently. Fishburn does not do what Doug does so well, so why not get the best at what they do?

Simple. Doug Jones can do what Laurence Fishburne can do, which is voice the Surfer, but Mr Fishburne couldn't even hope in his wildest dreams to do what Doug can do ... which is bring the Surfer to life in all of his graceful glory. In Hollywood, Doug Jones is the Man for roles like this - the studios come looking for him, not the other way around. Oh, and Tony? Doug wasn't the 'CG model' for the Surfer. He IS the Surfer.

I guess you just made your argument as to why Doug should have done the voice, not the other way around. This was not "green screen" stuff, this was "a man" Doug Jones, in a "silver suit" (yes with a stunt man, but they all have them) playing the Silver Surfer, once that happened, THEN some CGI shiney work was put in....not a dude with balls all over him.

It sucks that FOX didn't let Doug do the voice, but since they did chose, Fishburne was an amazing choice for the voice.



The sad thing is, Doug Jones' line as the Surfer in the trailer was EXACTLY what I imagined the Surfer's voice to be.

I doubt it, Fishburn probably cost a lot more than what Doug Jones would if he did the voice..Seriously not a lot of people know Doug Jones, it wouldve been cheaper for the studio to use him instead.
I think LF shouldve done Galactus but judging by the trailer I really like his voice

Of course Fishburne cost a lot more - but they appear to think Mr Fishburne's voice will put a lot more bums on seats, and therefore make them more money, which is fine. It's their film, they can do as they wish. C'est la vie.

I've heard Doug Jones' voice in an interview and it doesn't sound particularly impressive to me. Someone give me a good example so I can be convinced.

Many say that the voice in the trailer is his, as does people from Fox. But some don't believe that and say it is Fishburns......so that may be your example...
