Simon Beaufoy writting "Wolverine 2"?

I want Omega Red. He would have been a better choice for the final villain of this movie than Deadpool.
I remember when he was rumored to be in X3 and Vince Murdocco was suppose to play him and Vince lied to us all. We thought some mutant on the bridge scene was Omega Red and we heard he was fighting Wolverine in the forest but nooooooo:csad: I love Omega Red...a great villian.

Whoooa, Simon Beaufoy?! How did they get him?

Although I wouldn't think it's a great career move to go from writing Slumdog Millionaire that just won pretty much every award under the sun to a Wolverine sequel. :hehe:

Interesting, although I'm more concerned with the movie at hand than its sequel, which I guess, I shouldn't be surprised, is already in the pipeline?

The rumors seem to be swirling that Hugh is planning to do another Broadway show next year (finally!). I have no doubt there are plans for a sequel, but if the B'way rumor is true it won't be happening for awhile.

Wolverine II will hit in May of 2012, God willing.

Jackman likes his downtime from the claws, hopefully Neil Marshall's DRIVE will prove to be his next PRESTIGE

Is Drive even still happening? Last I heard that was supposed to film last summer.

Supposedly he's going to be doing a musical about Harry Houdini, so let's assume that's the next Prestige. :cwink:

I read an article recently where Marshall said it was his next gig, I'm guessing it just got delayed.

But that Houdini musical sounds like GOLD

Re "Drive" - in an interview with director Neil Marshall last August/September (the IMDB info is wrong):

Q. Are you currently working with Hugh Jackman on Drive? And will that mark your Hollywood debut?

Neil Marshall: I’m developing the project with his production company, yes. But it’s a long way off. If it goes ahead, then yes it’ll most likely mark my Hollywood debut because the whole thing is set in LA. But it’s not my next movie.

Hopefully while Hugh is doing "Wolverine" promotion we'll find out what he's really doing next. He's been promoting all his time to "Australia" and "Wolverine" promotion and hasn't filmed anything new since last June when "Wolverine" wrapped (not counting reshoots). It he does go back to Broadway in 2010 I'm hoping he can fit in a movie or two before that.

I hope so too...although it will be nice to see him back on stage again. And I'll be perfectly happy to see some more non-Wolverine films.

If he doesn't film anything before he goes back on stage in the rumored Spring 2010, it could be another two-three years before we see him in a movie, depending how long the Broadway run is. Which is why I would like to see a movie or two "in the can" before he goes back that would be timed to come out while he's on Broadway so it doesn't seem like he's away from the movies.

I'm dying to see him let lose.

The Prestige and The Fountain were such a great direction for him to go after X3. I just wish they hadn't been released a month apart and the same year as X3.

Hopefully DRIVE will be a chance for Jackman to cross over into the realm of "R" rated films like Eastern Promises and No Country for Old Men.

The description for the film sounds like something Charles Bronson woulda done in '73...

"Based on the novel by James Sallis, Jackman will star as a Hollywood stunt driver that also drives getaway cars for bank robbers."

he's such a talented actor, I'm hoping he keeps looking for more serious pieces and more serious directors to work under.

Nolan and Aronofsky were great starts.

I wanna see Jackman in a Cronenberg movie

I read "Drive" - total GUY movie IMO (of which I am not one LOL).

He was in negotiations to star in a movie musical called "Cleo" (with Catherine Zeta-Jones, playing Marc Antony, described as a rock musical) directed by Stephen Soderbergh but supposedly dropped out in January due to "scheduling conflicts" because Soderbergh wanted to start filming in April. I'm sure the "scheduling conflicts" is "Wolverine" promotion. Soderbergh has since pushed the filming of the movie to next year because he said "one of our actors had a scheduling problem" so now I'm wondering if he actually *did* drop out or is Soderbergh waiting for him to be free.

Still waiting for the Spielberg/Scorsese call....

Yikes, I was relieved he dropped out of Cleo.

He'd be ******* perfect in a movie like Public Enemies.

yet another director he needs to link up with - Michael Mann.

As far as we know, he did drop out since that's the last word we got on it, but Soderbergh's comments made me a little suspicious - that perhaps he did but Soderbergh really wants him so is willing to wait. Or of course Soderbergh could be talking about someone else completely LOL. But the last thing official is that he "removed his name from negotiations" and Soderbergh wasn't specific, just said "one of our actors..."

The whole idea of that movie worries me.

I saw the revival of Guys & Dolls on Broadway last week...why can't they make that as a movie again so Hugh can play Skye Masterson? He'd amazing in that.

I LOVE the Guys & Dolls movie and I agree! I remember a few years ago there was a quote reportedly from Hugh saying they were going to do a movie musical of Guys & Dolls and were ready to go and just needed a director - and that was the last we heard. So who the heck knows. Also, I think his three-picture movie musical deal with Disney also went by the wayside when Disney had that shakeup a few years go (I do wonder if G&D was part of that). Yeah I know, Contact Music = very reliable - not - but BroadwayWorld.com picked it up. This is dated May 2006.

HUGH JACKMAN will begin shooting a movie version of musical GUYS AND DOLLS next year (07), once a director has been found. The actor - who has an impressive stage resume in musicals THE BOY FROM OZ and OKLAHOMA! - wants to cash in on the success of musical movies CHICAGO and MOULIN ROUGE!. He says, "We're looking for a director and I reckon we'll be ready to go in a year or so."

I remember that rumor, I didn't think there was anything to it at the time. It would be great if that did happen, though. It's the perfect movie musical for him.

I think G&D was originally with Miramax so maybe something happened when that went under, although other than ContactMusic I haven't seen that quote anywhere else. Would love to know where they got it from. One of these days he'll do his movie musical (his "Carousel" is still in development) - I hope the Oscars isn't the only venue where people could see him sing besides Broadway (which is a limited audience - but more people probably saw him sing at the Oscars than would see a movie musical LOL).

TOTAL FILM are saying:
James White @ Total Film said:
Forget all those Wolverine sequel rumours – at least for now – Slumdog scribe Simon Beaufoy has scored his next writing assignment: adapting Terry Pratchett’s Truckers for DreamWorks.

Yes, while he might have had chats about the Wolverine gig, he’s officially signed on to write the script for the animation department’s adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s kid novel.

At least, we think so… Variety doesn’t have any word on the storyline, so this could be some completely unrelated project.

X1 (2000), X2 (2003), X3 (2006), X-men Origins: Wolverine (2009). By logic: Wolverine 2 (2012).

Because making a movie that has the cure as temporary undoes the entirety of X-Men: The Last Stand.

As bad as some people may see the movie as being, another movie coming afterwords that undoes all of it's events is even WORSE storytelling.

I would absolutely HATE going to an X-Men movie where everyone who was cured got their powers back, and the events in X3 were undone.

The X-Men films will really have jumped the sharked at that point.
But the cure was temporary. Magneto was getting his powers back by the end of the film. I'm not saying that all the events of X3 have to be undone, but this point was already unravelling by the end of the third movie. I don't see the problem.
