single player or multiplayer?

Multiplayer are a lot of fun but single player is still what I like to play the most in a video game.

That´s not even a question.
Single player is way better than multiplayer any day of the week...and twice on sunday.

Multiplayer is fun and all, but the meat of any game is the story, because that´s the reason why anyone plays any game.
Master Chief, Kratos, Samus Aran, Link, Gordon Freeman...all of those exist because of the single player, so....

I personally feel that it's the single player that should shine brightest in a video game, multiplayer is fun and all that, I just feel that a single player campaign (a good/great one of course) is the real core of any video game, which is probably why multiplayer only games like MAG don't appeal to me. It just seems to many games nowadays have a tacked on multiplayer mode that shouldn't be there, and while a great campaign can make a game a goty contender, I don't feel the same about great multiplayer, what are your guys thoughts?
Also my thoughts.
I never cared a great deal for MP, anyway. I buy and play a game specially for the story campaing, and that's what is more important to me.
I see MP as a bonus. The greater the story and gameplay, the better the game.

As I said before I like games that are doing what brinks is doing for this type of question.

GS AU: You’re offering cooperative play for up to seven friends online. Can your squad be made up of multiples of the same class? And, will the command post system be available in multiplayer?
RH: Well, first, there’s absolutely no difference between single-player and multiplayer in Brink--they’re the same thing. The missions all have the same objectives and tools to complete those objectives. You can seamlessly switch from a solo experience to a co-op experience to a competitive experience--all in the same mission. You can go through the entire storyline of both campaigns offline or online and get the same experience either way.
as shown here.

As i said before it's games like these that will be remembered most for making them in this style. there have a few already . I guess they didn't make a big enough impact. hopefully this make that change come forth a little more. I'm hoping a lot.

what's brink you may ask heh check it.

Single-player for me. Multiplayer is absolutely unimportant to me. I generally don't even bother with the multiplayer on games, in fact. Left 4 Dead is just about the only MP-centric game I'll still play, and even that only rarely.

Single player, but I guess it also depends on what I'm in the mood for.

Overall tho, single player is just where it's at for me. There is a lot of story telling, and kick ass moments that are done in single player that multi just doesn't touch yet. Capture the flag or deathmatches are awesome, but they just don't compare to going thru a kick ass sequence that has an emotional or adrenaline pumping pay off at the end.

I guess a good comparison would be MMO's to RPG's. I like both, and both do typically have rich background stories and settings. It's just that with an RPG they give me a tailor fit story that makes it feel like my characters actions have impact, and then ends it all with a huge bang. Where an MMO I'll play just to set down and enjoy some grinding on mindless NPC's for fun and to get that new gear, but definitely not for the story or because I expect some huge graphical sequence where some huge boss is brought down in a fiery explosion.
