And when I say small, I do mean it, so don't complain.

This guy's brother is auditioning for a small role in TDK. He rehearsed the scene his brother was sent with him, so I asked him if he'd be kind enough to tell me anything about what happened. He was nice enough to do so:

As for the scene . . . it was actually pretty vague (even for those of us reading it) and doesn't give much info on the movie (it's really just a piece of a scene). A couple of criminals about to pull a bank job are arguing about cuts and shares and one guy pulls a gun on the character my bro is reading for. We suspect that the guy pulling the gun is either a henchman of the Joker . . . or the Joker himself, in disguise. But it's fairly vague, plotwise . . . and who knows what scenes will make it into the finished product.

EDIT: A follow up message was posted after the audition:

On second thought, our theory was off. There was another guy auditioning for the other criminal . . . so he was not likely the Joker.

Nice work, Detective. I can't see Joker having any henchmen, really hard to justify anyone working for him

even above that, it could be a fake scene scripted for auditions alone.

If that scene's in the movie, and "Joker" is in it...I'd assume it has something to do with the Red Hood because of the robbery aspect.

That sounds plausible.

Do they actually do that? I know sometimes names are changed to stop spoilers leaking...

Do you figure if his brother gets the job, he might share some details? *crosses fingers*

Interesting that he mentioned the possibility of Joker in disguise. He could be way off base, but it just piqued my interest because The Joker used quite a few disguises in his earlier appearances, and I had actually wondered whether Nolan was going to touch on that at all, considering it's not part of his traditional/modern character.

That's true... in Batman #1 Joker used a couple of disguises...

Nice find Miranda! I like the idea of the Joker being mysterious (in disguise) before he reveals himself to the audience.

Oh and this nevermore person is based in Illinois. Makes me think that these auditions are for scenes they plan to shoot in Chicago?

They do do that from time to time. For X3 the ladies who auditioned for Kitty Pride read from scenes taken straight from Astonishing X-Men and the guys who auditioned for Superman Returns did three scenes from Superman:The Movie.

Does anyone have an idea what Bale and the other Bat hopefulls read for the BB screentest?

Nice find, something to wet the appetite, at least.

It says something for the depth of my geekism that this sparks my interest!

again the guy's brother was guessing. it could be just a thug leader or just a random scene that won't be in the actual movie.

didn't he disguise himself as a Police Chief he killed later on.

Yes, exactly.

And at one point he hid inside a suit of armor. Not exactly a disguise, I know, but... it sort of is. :ninja:

Of course it could be, but where's the fun in assuming that?

I am of the opinion that every morning you piss in your own cornflakes, just to make sure you can be negative and grouchy. God forbid you have a little fun once in a while. ;)

Well, until we get something substantial (have anything?) we're having enough fun munching on the scraps.

lets hope this guy's bro lands the part. we need eyes and ears guys. if security was tight in BB, you can imagine what it would be for TDK

My guess is that they fake scripted a scene. Nolan and Co. are so anal about things getting leaked, I highly doubt they're gonna trust some "extras" and "bit-parts" with information about even a miniscule scene from the movie.

Yeah, but if they hire the guy, he's going to know what scenes he's in, and who's in it with him, even if he doesn't know the larger context.

Yes. And thats when WB makes them sign all those discretion Terms and Conditions. ;)
