No I said it because it hasn’t been topped. There’s been great super powered battles on screen but none match the Smallville battle.
Plenty have. One could argue the Russos have 5 on their own.

I'd say the one in IW is much more creative and character-driven than the Smallville battle, which felt too much like a Bayformer battle in that it was solely based on spectacle with little logic and story behind it.

TDK's swat fight? Lmao

For you, it really just all about the superficial stuff, isn’t it?

Swat fight tells a very good story about Batman’s intelligence, forward planning, and desire to protect innocent life.

But “punchy punchy, kicky kicky not good enough!” eh?

The SWAT fight definitely has more intensity behind it. The stakes are high.

In terms of PURE FILM-MAKING, the SWAT Fight is the best fighting sequence in any CBM. The storytelling, the twist, the cinematography, the editing, the music and sound mixing,... everything is just so well-done that we can barely notice the to-some-extend-lame choreography. Same for the Hotel Fight in Inception. It shows how good Nolan can be at directing.

The camera work in the SWAT sequence, I have to say it again, is just pure eyegasm

IW, in part because of Ebony Maw. Great usage of his powers.

It's silly to call fighting a less relevant when we're talking comparisons of fighting scenes. It's like talking about good acting scenes and picking a scene with bad acting because other things are good in it. It's also hardly unique to tell a story with a fighting scene.

But it's like usual, criticizing TDK is a really sensitive subject for some.

That moment when he glides into the building: "Dent is in there with them, we have to save Dent. I have to save Dent!" and the music comes in.. that stuff is next level.

I legitimately get emotional and a bit teary-eyed every time I watch that sequence - especially when he’s methodically taking each SWAT member out one by one, while Fox is taking him through where his opponents are, the sonar is going off, and Zimmer’s score is hitting that huge crescendo.

It’s the most Batman thing ever committed to film.

The Battle of Smallville. One of the few superhero fight scenes that genuinely felt like incredibly, scarily powerful beings wailing on each other.

Completely agree. I think the NY battle wasn't anything special - don't get me wrong, it was a good battle scene, but not on the level of intensity of Smallville - I felt like Cull obsidian was just a generic cgi thug, whereas Faora was a terrific hench-person, and Nam Ek had the extra nasty feature of squasing the jet pilot's head.

The best fight scene in IW was definitely the fight on Titan - it was brutal, personal, creative and had real stakes. I mean, Thanos threw part of a moon at Iron Man, that alone was just awesome.

If the poll had been between the Titan fight, and the Smallville battle, then I would have voted for Titan.

The Russos are great at supehero fight scenes - I would rate the airport battle above Smallville as well.

However, I still don't rate the NY or Wakanda fights over Smallville.

I would agree with all that - particularly the last statement.

I kind of feel like movies like MOS and IW are a different type of cbm to TDK, they're much more fantasy, rather than the grounded world of Nolan's Batman ( realistic - although not real).

As such, I don't think we can really compare TDK to movies like Infinity War - it feels like comparing Blade Runner against Star Wars.

How about I just don't like the action in TDK period, I much prefer Batmans warehouse fight scene in BVS how about that.

With you it's all about outside stuff that has nothing to do with he actual fight choreography, isn't it?

See how easy that was to do?

There isn't much fighting during the SWAT scene. But yeah, if we are arguing one scene has better fight choreography and the other scene has everything else, I'd take the one with everything else. Action only matters for me if I care about the characters. About what is going on. Nolan for me gave us the two definitive Batman action sequences. The night Bruce saves Rachel from the Scarecrow (the Asylum and chase) and the Prewitt Building (SWAT) sequence.

I will say this as someone who rates TDK at the absolute highest echelons of all movies I have had the pleasure of watching. TDK was a much better movie outside the fight scenes than it was during.

Smallville fight was just headache inducingly crappy once you get past the wow factor of the cool way it was shot and the powers are displayed, which was like 2 mins into the fight. The NY battle was just so much more rounded and yet better choreographed as well inspite of so much CGI.

My feelings exactly
