I have three dream endings to Smallville.
Clark is walking through Metropolis when some sort of accident happens. He then starts running and opens his shirt to reveal the Superman S.
We see a shot of Superman flying through Metropolis. It then pans down to a shot of Lex Luthor watching him.
Lois Lane goes to the roof of the Daily Planet because she's frustrated with something. We then get a shot of just Clark's head as he floats down near Lois. She then turns around and has a few words with him. After a brief conversation with him, she then holds up a recorder and says "How about an interview.....Superman". We then get a shot of Tom in the suit. End of series.
Those are my dream endings.
i have been watching it. i enjoy it too. dont know anything on the comic its based off of. but its a nice show.
I am going to stand by my opinion that Clark needs to be in the last shot of Smallville. Martha and Lana may have played major roles in getting the character where he is, but the show still isn't about them. It's about Clark. I really do think he needs to be in the last shot of the series... in costume... flying.but it's appropriate... it takes the story back to Smallville, where it really should end... with the people who shaped Clark's life watching him fulfill his potential... in essence, the real heroes of the show. Likewise, Lex should be watching from where ever he is, as the antagonist who also shaped Clark into what he should become in the final shot of the series.
I like this idea because the climax of the final episode should not be an action sequence... it should be a cliffhanger to that action sequence. Because the climax is not Clark being superman, but Clark making the choice to be. Once made, there's is no reason to continue.
(this is not a vain attempt to get lana in the show, I dislike her, but her and Martha are the only two who have been supporting Clark's maturation (chole is too involved, and grey now, that she wouldn't fit) that are still alive and have been there since the beginning)

If you want to take the series back to Smallville for the last scene/last shot, why not have him up-up-and-away'ing from the Kent Farm, flying into the sky, perhaps back towards the Metropolis skyline? It could be a companion shot, in a way, to the last shot of Season 2, where he drove off in the motorcycle towards the city.

I think the first reveal of Superman, just like most Superman origin stories, should be saving Lois in a very public way.
