Tom Welling confirms Season 10 is the last !

This is EXACTLY what I always imagined would happen if they ever cast Welling back in the days. That they just explain that Smallville was an elseworld tale with no real connection to the mythology of supermans original upbringing. Just another version of his life.

Like if Tom were cast then start that movie in the Fortress & we find out that all 10 years of Smallville was just training & he has been in the Fortress for years & the movie = training is over then cue the credits & Clark never really meeting everyone or fighting so many bad guys so early in his life & never becoming friends with Lex & Chloe was never real

Mwahahahahaha

The only way we'll see Welling as Superman in the next movie is if it's established that Smallville is set in some alternate universe where Clark Kent's entire upbringing and path towards becoming Superman was different from established lore.

which again comes back to...what's the point of casting Welling as Superman in the first place? I mean if you're going to ignore the 10 years of work he put in establishing his version of Clark Kent and start brand new then...start brand new with a NEW ACTOR.

well mike22 looking at it smallville is and has been from day one its own take on superman.

I'm fully aware of that Webhead.Thing is, while I do enjoy Smallville for what it is, there are plenty of things about it I don't like. Since the first two superman movies we still haven't had a supes movie that does the character justice. Smallville is a tv-show with a restricted budget that really can't fully do Justice to the superman universe.
Welling, in my mind was ideal for a modern superman and out of all the candidates we've heard about so far, Welling still is the best one IMO.
So in the earlier days I really had no reservations about Smallville being canceled and Welling taking the step up to the big screen. And I don't mean a continuation of Smallville but it's own take that's more in line with the comics, basically a pure, true to the comics movie.
A big budget monster of a movie that brought Superman back to reclaim his throne as King of all Superheros. Not some punk ass movie with s a skinny superman where he gets his ass beaten like a ****** and doesn't throw a single punch. Damn I.hate.that.movie.

But, Welling will not get the chance to be big screen superman unfortunately, and the best we can hope for is a glimpse of the suit in he end.

oh totally there is so many things they could have done differently, and other things that were stupid. But overall i say smallville has done clark kent to a fair justice. I agree i hope the next film can do better justice for the character in fans/general audience opinion and all that. IF it can be as big as ironman or what star trek did to get more general audience behind it.

Speaking of General Zod, I would really love to see a huge fight between the two. They should definitely try to bring back Callum blue in a episode next season and find a way to merge his soul/spirit with the Clone Zod, with the beard and gelled up hair to be as reminiscent of the Terence Stamp Zod as possible and just go all out. Fight to the death. Last time he fought Original Zod when had taken over Lex's body, he got the crap beaten out of him. Now I think it would be more of an even fight. Something we're probably never going to see, but damn it would have been sweet as hell. Especially with the new costume he's getting next season.

I agree it is slim to zero chances of this. But a full on battle with powers would be amazingly epic. I still get giddy watching the richard donner cut of Superman 2 when zod is throwing him through trucks and tossing busses into him.....ah it's great.

yea just think how much better that scene in that film could be today.

SupermanHomepage has a poll asking who they want as Superman in the new movie. Tom Welling is one of the options, so if you want you can go in vote for him there.

Mike. Seriously.

You need to firm up your opinion and tell us how you REALLY feel...

;) :D

Way to distill that train wreck down.

Don't know what to tell you triplet, my hate for that movie seems endless. I could just sit here and complain all day long about what a huge piece dogs turd that ridiculous attempt at a superman movie was.
I honestly thought it would get better after a few years but, no. Still going strong. I don't think I'll ever get over just how pathetically bad that movie is.
In fact I think I'm gonna sue Bryan Singer for filling my otherwise gentle heart with so much hate.

Come on. . . admit it. You secretly watched Smallville and I'm sure will go nuts when you see TW with the suit in some form or fashion. . . . :oldrazz:

I'm not going to lie. I will literally cream my pants if I see TW in the Superman suit.

This was just damned funny
So...you watched for 9 years and you hated every single season? And while you were at it, you just automatically threw in the still unknown season 10 with the rest of the series which you categorized as "horrible" without knowing a thing about it. Wow, I don't know if that makes you a tremendous fan, or a truly passionate hater. LOL.

Sorry man, but this was genuinely funny. It's completely OK to hate a show, really, but you should've taken the hint that it maybe wasn't up your alley with the first few seasons, and you know.. maybe..stopped watching. Could've saved you some trouble, I'm just sayin'...

I have watched every episode of the last 9 years. Just to get to the point when Welling wears the suite. So yes I will be gitty when it happens.

I will always be appreciative for Smallville introducing me to some of the hottest woman on the planet.

I got trapped in. I kept thinking that this show was going to get cancelled. So by the time it got to about season 5 I just figured F it. I am going to ride this thing out all the way to the end.

My favorite rediculous Supes cover up moment on this show was when Lana caught Clark throwing a dude far into a car. She asks him how he did that. He says. "He was drunk, & I was highly motivated". & she believed him!

That is when I knew I was in for a long ride.

And I would add to that some cool music too.

Hehe. I guess I just don't fully understand how you could watch for 9 years ( and that my friend is a long, long time to watch something you don't like) when you clearly show quite a dislike for it. I mean, if I dislike something, then I just don't watch it. If you got trapped in, then there must've been something that appealed to you other than it being a show about young superman. Frankly, as big a fan as I am of superman, if I felt that Smallville truly sucked I wouldn't have watched it under any circumstances. But to each his own

Anyway, I'm hopefull they're gonna show Welling in the suit in the finale, and I'm sure that's something we can all look forward to, a glimse of Superman. Look at it as a reward for your patience.

I don't remember that particular scene but it does seem humorous in a stupid way.

yea that was what second season if i recall correctly. And it was the first episode for the female cop in smallville too.

It was the first episode where you see Lana getting fighting lessons from Lex. It was the ep where she almost got beat down in the Talon & CK came to her rescue but for the first time lost his temper & resulted in the guy trying to sue him. Good ep.

Steve

Now I remember that episode. A sweaty Lana...:woot:
