Smallville - The Complete Boxed Set

Not having this come to Blu-Ray is a fail of epic proportions. I mean every season since like Season 5 has had a blu-ray release anyway, they couldnt transfer the first 4 seasons?

Who the hell wants 62 DVD's?

It looks like from the cast list they're going from the character who has appeared in the most episodes to the one who has appeared in the least amount of episodes. :super:

Ya it does stink though for me I stilk haven't upgraded to bluray yet myself. But we all can hope they will do/try to do a covertion later. Like next yr around mos release, or maybe when mos is hitting video market.

God, I hate having owned all of them separate on dvd already. That is one sexy case...

We better be getting a Blu case like that soon.

This purchase hinges on the last episode being really, really great. If it's subpar, like I found Lost to be, I'll probably lose all excitement in getting the whole set. But if it's awesome, I'll be looking forward to owning and watching all ten seasons.

It's a nice looking set. I was kind of hoping it would be in a Big S-Shield or something, but this nice and simple.

QFT!

And you're absolutely right. It shouldn't be that hard to author new BDs for Seasons 1-5. It's just that WHV doesn't want to. Those episodes exist in hi-def. The excuse that the early season SFX were never designed to be seen in HD is all kinds of BS because that article with Entity FX (from 2003!) already proved that they were working with both SD and HD, even though the latter format wasn't widespread yet, to "future-proof" the show. For Warner to come out and say that it's too expensive to make early season blus because of FX issues is just them lying to the show's fans.

If it's a business decision, well, they just missed out on me, and quite a few other blu-ray enthusiasts, who would have happily plunked down a lot of money for it.

And as beautiful as this set is, I'm not paying for 62 DVDs.

We know they will eventually release it on Blu-Ray too. It's just a matter of time.

well for all we know the cover could possibly change, those things can and usually do happen for sets like these. More so if they decide to have clark as superman on the cover but holding off on that image due to not spoiling finale stuff. Or at least on the back side cover clark as superman.

Well maybe its a little of both more so for maybe seasons 1-2/3 and the others are ok. OR ya they could just be cheaping out. Its hard to know whats what with business stuff when we dont have all the details. But ya with all the money itunes/amazon and the seasons sets have made you think there is plently of dough to go around.

I just hope that's not the final cover for the complete series set. Like I said, I wish there were new commentaries as well. :super:

Yeah, they definitely wouldn't spoil Clark in the suit this early through a box art. If I recall, they didn't release the season 9 box art until a week or so after the season finale.

Though I'm pretty sure this is the final image for the front cover, and in my opinion, it makes sense to have Clark Kent on the front and not Superman.

The show isnt about Superman so they wont put him on the cover. The show was majority about Clark Kent which is what the cover depicts and Im fine with that. Though I probably wont pick it up since I like Smallville but was never in love with it and I already have all the seasons.

Each season has 6 discs, so assuming that season 10 will follow the pattern, that would bring us to 60 discs, with 2 extra, most likely featuring the Superboy pilot and other special features.

If they put four episodes per disk it will take 55 dvds to cover the show with the other 7 for special features.

Personaly I wouldn't mind having the compleat series box set. But the thing is I already own S1-9 on dvd and plan on buying S10 so I'm not sure I can justify the extra $185. I say $185 based on Amazon's $224.99 preorder price minus the $40(give or take) for S10. If the set ends up having some kind of remastering or something similer done to improve the quality of the picture and audio then the extra money the set is gonna cost would be a lot easier to justify.

it does suck for the bluray fans. hopefully with folks complaining for a bluray release maybe wb will listen to them and like i said come a few months later then dvd release and release one on bluray.

Not necessarily DVD related, but iTunes is offering all ten season premieres in HD for free.

Not going Blu for this is just ******ed, like many have said who the **** wants 62 DVD's. Hope it gets enough complaints.

They will release it on Blu-Ray soon after. I'm sure of it.

Yep, I'm getting all of the season premieres regardless of my feelings towards certain seasons. I just saw the Pilot in HD on iTunes as it came out good. :super:

Nice now I think i'm glad I didnt buy the individual seasons.

I actually had a dvdrip of the pilot, but after seeing the HD Pilot, I will also be downloading the episodes.

That set is beautiful. HOWEVER...

No blu ray, no deal.

I guess i'll have to settle with my collection of seasons 1-8 on dvd and season 9 (and eventual 10) on blu ray.
