Yes The First black canary in the comics was Dinah's mother Dinah Drake Lance she was born in Gotham city . (Pre-Crisis comic)

The Second Black canary Dinah Laurel Lance Queen is the daughter (Post -Crisis)

Smallville's Black Canary is Dinah Laurel Lance (daughter, not mother) for this storyline...is it not??.

If so, from the en.dcdatabaseproject.com (DC wiki), it states that..."Dinah bleached her hair yellow instead of wearing a blonde wig over her short cropped black hair, like she used to."

If Ashley Scott still sported her "Birds of Prey" look...she would have been a nice match.

Blonde, brunette or multi-colored, Ashley Scott is so HOT!!!

I actually think Ashley Scott would be really good as the Black Canary. She definitely has the looks as well as the personality that would suit the role pretty well. I could picture her and Hartley together, easily. Of course she already played Bruce Wayne's daughter "Helena Kyle/Huntress" but that wouldn't matter much.

Still, I expect to see a fresh face in this role, like they did with Kara.

I don't know, but for some reason I think she looks older than Tom. I'm not sure how old she really is (she could very well be much younger than Tom), but it just wouldn't work if she's supposed to be younger than Clark but looks older than him. I think Laura V is fine as Supergirl. Plus, the actress is probably cheap. Taylor would be expensive since she's been in a big budget summer blockbuster film.

Has The Black Canary Been Cast?

Though we don't have confirmation from official sources, a poster on the KryptonSite Message Forums claims that actress Alaina Huffman (from the Painkiller Jane TV series) has been cast in a role we are assuming is Dinah Lance, The Black Canary.

However, we cannot confirm this at this time and we figure the real news of the casting will be released through official media. We will say she definitely looks the part.
