Smash Bros + Ninja Gaiden = TMNT!?

God, I hate the color glowing on the characters otherwise this definitely looks fun and I'll pick it up.

I hope there's a way to switch it off. I don't understand why they added it. Do they think we can't keep the characters apart or what and need to be reminded who we play?

I hope this has a decent size roster as well. I'd love for it to have the same amount as Brawl but I doubt that's possible.

Yeah, I figured. Just odd to me that they included an alter-ego as a separate character.

Super Smash Bros. does it. Mario/Dr. Mario, if you will.

Melee and Brawl had indicators above the characters that had the same purpose. I agree that the glowing is distracting and they should have done something else. I also don't care for the system of picking a stage in multiplayer.

I imagine they went with a more extreme identification method than Smash Bros.' because the Turtles, by and large, have darker environments. Sewers, nighttime alleys, etc. aren't as well lit as Smash Bros.' Zelda castles and Pokemon cities/arenas. It's a little annoying, but I'm sure I'll get used to it quickly.

What really worries me is the character selection. We've got two Rabbids for no apparent reason and only a handful of revealed TMNT characters so far. Good characters, of course, but I'd really like to have a wide spectrum of TMNT characters.

And it's not like they've only got a small selection of characters to choose from. I hope we get a minimum of at least 25 characters.

I at least wished they'd manage to pull of Usagi being in the game.

He appears in enough episodes. They should manage the rights to have him in the game. I think the only game he's ever been in was Battle Nexus, but only as an opponent. But he was in the game.

Stan Sakai owns all of Usagi's rights, doesn't he? He's probably pretty easy for Laird/Mirage to work usage rights out with since he's just one dude rather than a company with its own bureaucracy and stuff.

I know Peter Laird hates her, as well as a lot of fans, but we'll more than likely need more female characters, so I wouldn't even mind if they but Venus De Milo in.

Eh, I'd prefer a host of other females over her. Karai (who's already in, thankfully), Ninjara, Chikara-Shisho, even that blonde chick from the Ninja Tribunal story.

Yeah, I'm just worried all we'll get is Karai and April though.

Yeah, I could see that. That'd suck but, at the end of the day, I've got my Fugitoid so I'm happy.

I'm actually surprised we got Utrominator instead of Krang. Hopefully Krang's still in there too.

Characters like Bebop and Rocksteady seem like they'd be shoe ins too.

Doesn't Laird hate most of the stuff from the '80s cartoon? That may explain it.

I wonder if we'll see Hun and Baxter, though.

Laird liked Bebop and Rocksteady up until the point they became silly characters.

Less so in the first season of the show. He hated them once the sillyness went over the top.

Peter Laird has said on quite a number of occasions that he's not a fan of what they did during the 80's cartoon. I'm guessing that's why we probably won't see any of those characters, since Laird is choosing most of the fighting cast.

It's probably why he put in an Ultrominator instead of Krang, considering Krang was based on those characters from the comics.

I personally hope we get Leatherhead, as he was a Laird creation from the comics.

Hun and Baxter would be great. Baxter would be especially fun when they use any of his Cyborg versions.

I hope to see Baxter in the game, as he had some really cool iterations that would make him really fun to use in the game.

But going back to the point about his thoughts on the cartoon means that if Baxter is in, it won't be his fly form.

I really hope they'll barely use any of the 80's characters. The only ones I don't mind seeing are Slash and Metalhead.

I agree, I'm not a fan of the 80's show, so if they leave those characters out, I'm ok with it.
