I thought it was alittle soon for tony stark to reveal his identity at the end of the first movie.
Did Stark do this in the comics at any time? And if so when? Was this just one one RDJ's demanded improvs/script changes?
The body guard story is a little shakey. But I'd imagine the iron man suit would be able to perform some basic functions without anybody inside it. This and he could have had Rhodey wear it a couple times in public to throw off suspicion.

He revealed his identity on several occasions in the comics. They decided to go ahead and get it out of the way. IM doesn't really need a secret ID. People are trying to kill him and those he loves either way.

Yes, revealed identity allows them to focus on more original aspects of the story. Most heroes don't reveal their identity, but that's been done a lot. Revealing it, however, has not been done quite as much.

Also, Iron + Robert Downey Jr. = Must Reveal Secret Identity. I love how they are portraying Tony, and that the portrayal couldn't stand not revealing his identity. The "I am Iron Man" ending was classic, in my opinion.

How was jarvis portrayed in the comics? Or cartoons? I'm getting the impression that he wasn't just an AI with a voice.

And I too think it is good they revealed his identity. It's the norm for heroes to have secret i.ds. It'll be cool to see how they explore a hero in film form who doesn't have a secret i.d

Those were to of my favorite aspects. Having him reveal his identity had me shocked in a very good way.

And killing the soldiers threatening the civies. I am so sick of "Heroes can't kill", it starting to make the good guys the villains in my view.

Nope, never in the comics. Batman wouldn't even dare consider giving up his crusade, especially over a woman.

And that's what's starting to make heroes look stupid or just as bad as the villain. I won't kill you, I'll just put you back in jail for you to escape and kill a few hundred more people. Sometimes the villain needs to be killed.

It's their job to catch em. Not their fault if the gov keeps putting them in crappy prisons/mental hospitals and not, you know, execute them. And even if they did, they'd get like 80 appeals, and live long enough to escape. Same as in real life. Why not blame the cops for not blowing every criminal away cuz they're just gonna go to jail, get out, and do it again. You see? Your logic is off.

Besides, its not the goverment's fault that the villains escape all the time. Its because we like them and they keep them alive so that they can give us more stories with them. Its our fault that the Joker escapes so often and goes on a killing spree. Its our fault that people in Gotham die.
