So... How About That Coke Commercial...

I ignore Fox News. If there's anyone more deserving of being ignored I can't think of who.

It just makes me sad when I see that people still think this way........

I look at it this way. For every one of them there are dozens (possibly hundreds) who don't think that way. Most of us don't feel the need to say anything about it. Why would we? Do we need to say the grass is green or the sky is blue every time we see it? These kind of people need an affirmation their viewpoints are right so they go and make the loudest, most offensive and ignorant comments they can in hopes of being noticed and getting a response to justify their view points.

They are in a minority but unlike other minorities, they don't have a voice worth valuing.

I also feel that the people who actually think......then say "Speak American!" and believe it is a valid argument shouldn't be able to breed with the human race.

The ad about the soldier coming home BROUGHT TO YOU BY (BUY) BUDWEISER was a bigger eye roller for me than this Coke stuff.

And what about Bob Dylan looking right into the camera and saying, "We blah blah blah make a car." That was ****** lame as hell.

EDIT: Ha, I didn''t know Hype had censored f- double g's.

I didn't think it was a big deal though I did laugh at people singing America the Beautiful in different languages. People like to make big deals about absolutely nothing.

The guy coming home lives in my town in FL! I fly through that airport and ****. I immediately recognized that airport ha.

Winter Park is the town right next to me. I lived in Winter Park for a while.

Here's some of the soundbites of the kids recording, for those who want to enjoy / or run in horror, at what America looks and sounds like.
First things you notice everyone of these kids is a bilingual American they all speak perfect English.
And probably better than some of those twits shouting foreigners!

Naomi - Spanish -
Leilani - Tagalog -
Sushmitha - Hindi -
Kennedy - Senegalese-French -
Natalie - Hebrew -
Naya - Arabic -
Ming - Mandarin -
Christy - Keres -
Carolyn - English -

Naomi -"...we have the right to be ourselves, we can speak what we want, pray whatever we want to pray, and I just think that's pretty amazing...."

Meanwhile for better or worse Coca-Cola sees one color - green - and that's America!

I don't get the certain backlash this commercial is getting. I didn't care for it seeing as I don't drink coke but it seems as if people forget that American has prided itself on it's diverse nature and open arms policy to different race and culture.

Personally, I really liked the commercial and felt it celebrated America's history of diversity. But, it seems a lot of others are REALLY upset by it. What are your thoughts?

it's okay I just thought it was corny. lol @ the hate it got because it's being sung in different languages.

Check out some of the stand up citizens tweets here.

This is why there is a major epidemic going on. Any moron has a voice now.

wonder how many of those tweets have been deleted or twitter accounts have closed.

I think it's eye-roll-worthy that a product as irrelevant as Coke tries to use heartstring-tugging tactics to peddle their product. I also think it's ridiculous that so many Americans still have the racial views that they do. All in all a complete cluster****.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't like the anthem sung in any other language except ours and didn't care for the commercial. It just reminds me of the immigrants that come here and don't make the effort to adopt our culture, more so the language. If I'm going to live in another country you bet your ass I'm going to learn their customs and language, just as I did when I spent 4 months in Rome.

Just to let you know, it's breed, not bread. Bread is the stuff that you make sandwiches with.

i know ugh I just re read it :/

thanks for the sarcasm

Not gonna start a debate but just make a statement. I find it oddly poetic that America was created by eviscerating a group of people to build a supposedly "accepting" country on, and now some odd years later when a different version of colonialism occurs the people who benefitted from it initially complain. Has an Animal Farm quality to it.

Speaking as a Native American I find this post hilariously ignorant.

LOL They weren't singing the Anthem.

Every one of those kids singing is American and speaks perfect English.
And they probably actually know what the Anthem sounds like, unlike you!

Naomi commenting on what she hopes her fellow Americans will feel upon hearing the song in different languages - "They might feel joyful, they might feel like wow America has all these different things and make them feel really proud of their country I hope, because I know I am pretty proud."

Not surprising some jingoist haters decide to feel and tweet the exact opposite of what she hoped - threatened, fearful and xenophobic.

I think not even being able to tell America the Beautiful from the Star-Spangled Banner really says it all.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Wow I never would have thought that the commercial would spark such a debate. I had no problems with it. I kind of liked it. Overall I wasn't too impressed with any of the commercials this year. They were all pretty weak.

Who would have thought that a bi racial girl with a black dad/white mom or whatever would garner so much attention?

Oh man when that first commercial came out and people were mad. That was plain pathetic. I'm glad Cherrios has stuck to their guns

All these damn illegals sneaking into our country need to go back where they came from!

But, it seems a lot of others are REALLY upset by it
Pepsi fans of course. :awesome:
