so in the incredible hulk tony stark is talking like he is working with nick fury to put the team together

and yet in iron man 2 it seems like nick fury wants him as a consultant, and he aint got any control in the matter

am i missing something?

feel free to correct me =/

Seems to me Marvel MAY, just MAY, not include Hulk in the Avengers at all. Considering he is easily the most expensive character to show onscreen, and that neither of his movies were as succesful as hoped, and that they may well be no third Hulk movie - certainly Marvel has no current plans for one - it makes sense that they would not include him.

I don't think that part matters. Even if people don't like Hulk they still see the movie because of Iron Man, Thor or Captain America.

I'm trying to stay mostly spoiler free, but isn't there a scene where you can see Hulk's rampage on the TV?

He's in it, Feige confirmed it already.

If people don't like Hulk, why even put him into the movie?

It already has to feature Iron Man, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, possibly Hawkeye and the Wasp and others, so why add another character?

Isn't The Avengers movie about Loki taking control of Hulk?

Tons of people love Hulk. The Remake didnt do as good as hoped because Ang lees movie left a bad taste in every ones mouth. And i dont think they made it clear enough that this was a reboot.
When Ang Lee's hulk came out i think it was something like the 16th biggist opening in film history doubt it still holds that spot but that shows tons of people did want to see the Hulk. Most just didnt like it enough to see it again. Thus as i stated then effected the remake. Now that every one knows the new hulk was a good movie and with the hulk being in the Avengers i would say that a sequel to 08's hulk is a shoe in. And it should fair much better.

On to the point at hand (I have not seen IM2 yet this is all speculation). Toney Stark is and always has been instrumental in the development of S.H.E.I.L.D. and the Avengers (in the comics at least). Even if they just want him as a consultant then i could still see him going up to "Thunderbolt" Ross as he does in TIH. He may not join the Avengers right off the bat. It may take alittle bit before he jumps in to help. Not to mention even if parts of TIH and IM2 are happening at the same time, we dont really know how long after TIH the extra scene takes place. I would say it could be up to a week. Not to mention we dont know how Thor fits into this and when his story takes place. Im guessing that TIH scene is probly the last piece of the puzzle before the Avengers.
To be honest if i was putting together a team to take on the most dangerous threats know to man. Tony Stark is the last person i would want. You know he isnt going to take orders well. So that should make for some interesting conflict in the Avengers. But its kinda like when your at war people who act like tony can get there whole squad killed. Now i know in the end Tony is one hell of a hero but looking at it from Nicks point of view tony seems recless

Well for the scene in incredible hulk it seems like it takes place after Ironman 1 of course after Fury talks to Stark. When Tony goes to Thunderbolt it seems like Tony already acceptted Fury's offer which is why he is out talking to the general about the avengers.

I've seen IM2 and believe me, the scene in Hulk takes place long after IM2 :)

I want to know the answer to this. :P

Please, someone answer this.

Don't be too specific of the setting, (like spoilers of IM2), but just confirm whether or not this occurs, if it's just a background thing that you have to really look for, and if it's re-used footage from TIH, or original.

If there's no Hulk in Avengers then there can't be a Hulkbuster armour and it would be a mistake not to feature another amazing new armour for Tony to show off in. :awesome:

At the end of the film Stark is with Fury in a small warehouse (the scene in the trailers about Narcissism) all around them are screens one of the screens shows the Asian reporter who we see in TIH reporting about the Campus incident, you get to see the screen at least twice. Spoilers about the scene.... [BLACKOUT]The scene is all about Natasha's report on Stark, she thinks Iron Man should be in the Avengers but not Stark, Fury asks him to be a consultant for now.[/BLACKOUT]

My question about all this is, why is Fury trying to band a team together in the 1st place? Surely he must be aware of some pending threat that we don't already know of, whick kind of begs the questionof, if Loki is supposed to take control of the hulk in the avengers, wouldn't that be some sort of distraction or bump in the road in trying to take hold of what ever the real threat is. Are we supposed to believe that Fury and SHIELD are well aware of the existence of Odin, Thor, Loki and Asgard as well as possibly Cap's body theoretically available for extraction from where evre the hell it is???

it's possible that IM 2 is moving a couple of weeks or months b4 IH .....in the safe house they could be broadcasting a live feed of the events of the college rampage that happened hours b4 or the day after......givin tony stark enough time to contemplate the fury's offer. Thereby the ending scene of IH to play out as it did. And if they did want to the Hulk to play some part of the Universe they wouldnt have shown Stark at the end of IH ...also the news footage of the college in IM2

I think they should have added a line from Fury to Stark during the de-briefing:

"The first thing I need you to do is talk a General by the name of Ross..." with Tony then giving him a smirk.

Well i would say the hulk would be enough of a threat. The whole world thinks hes a giant monster after all. Other then that i would say it could be as simple as a rise in super human activity and he needs a super human team to "police" the globe.

Marvel Movie Time-line (so far as I can estimate):

Captain America (the middle of the movie set in World War II)
First Stark Expo and Howard Stark's work on the atomic bomb.

-----Flash Forward----

- Iron Man

- (Stark meets Nick Furry)

- Parts of The Incredible Hulk (up until just after the Hulk's fight with the Abomination).

- Iron Man 2 (Hulk footage on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s monitors)
- (S.H.I.E.L.D. finds Thor's hammer)

- Thor

- (The Incredible Hulk's post credits scene where Stark meets with Ross)

- Captain America's bookends (which appear to be in current times when he is found)

- The Avengers

Iron Man 2 happens BEFORE The Incredible Hulk...

Ok TIH didn't do well at the box .. yet US fans liked it, it had good reviews.

It seems to me to make sense to have him in Avengers in some form, if not who else will be the bad guy .. the Skrulls!?

I really enjoyed the Hulk, would have liked it to have been longer, but within this new Marvel line it fits well so far.

I would have to disagree. Because during that scene in The Incredible Hulk, it starts to rain, which then turns into a huge storm. And when the news reporter is speaking, the damage has been done, the fires are extinguished and it's not raining anymore. So if the report is a live feedback inside the warehouse in Iron Man 2, then it's a been a day after the fight scene in TIH(or maybe the same day; where Bruce takes Betty could be far away from Virginia at the moment and the storm followed them).

What confuses me though is S.H.I.E.L.D.'s strategy with handling Hulk and why the General will be involved with the Avengers.
